Dog?

Looks like we might be babysitting someone’s dog in the near future. The woman that gave us Vicki (our Maine Coon) has a friend that has to move into an apartment temporarily. They haven’t been able to find an apartment that will allow them to bring their dog so they’re looking for someone that already has a dog to take it for 6-8 months rather than boarding it at a kennel. I was a little surprised last night when hubby mentioned it and was actually considering taking the dog in. My first thought was “hmm, who do we know that could do that”. lol

It’s an old Rottweiler. They say it doesn’t pay other animals any attention anymore and should be okay around cats. They need someone to take it in January and they said they’d pay for food, any vet bills and extra for boarding.

I do like Rottweilers, they’re neat dogs. My dad had a friend that had a couple and although my dad was afraid of them I played with them as a kid quite often. Anyway, we’re thinking we’ll meet the people, have them bring their dog over to our place to make sure it really is okay around cats and stuff. See if they’re the kind of people we’d want to do something like this for. Y’know nice, not jerks or anything. We don’t want to risk getting screwed over. Then if we decide to do it for them we’ll write up a written agreement to make sure everyone knows what’s expected and stuff.

I’ve got to get the house in order. People are going to be coming over to look at the kittens soon. I need to clean out the back bedroom so the kittens will have their own private safe place when they outgrow the closet too. They’re going to outgrow the closet pretty soon I think. One managed to climb right over the little cardboard barrier I put up there to keep them in. Once they’re eating solid foods pretty well I’ll be taking them away from Sophie for part of the day so they can adjust to life without her and so she can have a break. She definitely needs a break. She crawled out of the closet last night, over the cardboard barrier and just flopped down on the floor and went to sleep. 5 kittens must be a lot of work for one little kitty.

Anyway, that’s our latest news.
