Dishwasher Woes
*yawns* The dishwasher arrived yesterday, installing it has been a total pain. It took nearly 12 hours yesterday and it is still not finished. The biggest problem is the fact that the piping that brings water into the kitchen sink is non-standard. Thank you to hubbys dad for putting in non-standard crap when he built the place. We could have had this done in a short amount of time if only the piping was standard stuff. We went to Lowe’s 3 times yesterday and the little hardware store in our town once. The first adapter we bought dripped water, so we had to go out again, the second adapter also dripped water and the third just wouldn’t fit. The last and final adapter, which we bought at 9:30pm last night was in the wrong damned package, it would have worked if it was truly what it said it was, a half inch to three-eighths adapter. It was not, somehow a 1/2 to 1/2 adapter ended up in a 1/2-3/8th package. We were livid, Lowe’s closes at 10pm and now we’d have to wait till morning to return the adapter. Hubby is on his way to Lowe’s AGAIN now. Another trip to Lowe’s was inevitable though, as the stupid people didn’t include a grommet for attaching the electrical wire *sighs*. If we’d known it was going to be this much trouble we’d have said yes to having it installed. The only thing dishwashers come with is a waste hose, everything else you have to go to the hardware store and buy yourself, even the cord to plug the damn thing in with. All you buy when you buy a dishwasher is the unit itself. Not that it mattered since our shit is non-standard anyway *rolls eyes*. I get so sick of this house sometimes.
We were happy that installing the dishwasher made us buy something that would fix a problem hubby sister in laws ex-husband screwed up. The pipe on the left side of the sink was missing a gasket and slipped off all the time. If you made the mistake of dumping milk or doing dishes in that side of the sink you’d end up with whatever you put in the sink happily soaking into the rug and your socks. Then you had to take everything out from under the sink and dry it off. We knew something needed to be done about that pipe but hadn’t gotten around to figuring out what until yesterday.
This whole project has decided something for us. When we go to install our new bathroom sink, tub and toilet, we’ll be calling a plumber. 🙂 Plumbing sucks, it’s a pain in the ass and if you fuck up, you get wet.
That would be all we did yesterday. We ended up eating out twice, well first we ordered take-out, then we ended up getting dinner on the way to Lowe’s. It was obvious the kitchen would be in no shape for cooking any time soon. It better be by tonight cuz dammit I’m looking forward to what I was planning on making! 🙂 Hopefully hubby will return from Lowe’s with the parts we need, this will be the last trip to Lowe’s and we’ll have this done with plenty of time to relax. That and hubby has homework to do so this taking all day again would be very bad!!
I wish you the best!!

I can recommend a good plumber in my area of CT, a family friend 😉 Hope everything works out!

oh my word what a headache! Your hubby’s dad sounds like a character if judging from the house alone 🙂
