Damn Cat
Well, Sophie is getting a little too into this mom thing. She is doing better, which is good. The kittens are getting well taken care of. BUT, she’s gotten more agressive with Sara. She had been doing better but tonight she chased after and cornered Sara in the living room. We couldn’t get her off her! I grabbed her, huge mistake, I ended up with one hell of a bite, it looks like a snake bite, literally. There’s 4 deep holes in my right arm and it’s starting to bruise. It hurts like you wouldn’t believe. Hubby put some peroxide on it for me and I took an Advil. I’m waiting for the Advil to kick in.
Hubby actually ended up having to pick Sara up and carry her out of living room. Sophie followed him all the way to Sara’s crate! He gave Sara some love, treats, and some liver flavored kong stuffing in her kong so she’d know she wasn’t in trouble. She’s fine, Sophie didn’t get any good swipe’s in.
Sophie is now officially going to be locked up any time Sara is out of her crate. This means Sophie is going to be spending a lot of time locked in our room with her kittens. 🙂 If she doesn’t improve after the kittens are weaned she will have to find a new home, a dog-free home. She’s an okay cat, she’s gotten sweet with us and she’s perfectly fine with the other cats but she’s awful around dogs. I’m hoping it’s just b/c of the pregnancy and birth of her kittens. This happens a lot, especially with strays, sometimes it even happens so that if the humans go near the kittens they get attacked. So she might improve, but if she doesn’t I’ll be finding a home for her with someone who knows how to handle her, she’s the kind of cat that can only go to a home with people who know a thing or two about cats. I hope I can get her to improve, I do like her, but I will not tolerate a cat terrorising my dog. We’ll see how it goes. We’ll see how she is around Sara once the kittens have grown up a bit and gotten less dependent on her.
Poor Sara, but she can rest assured nothing like this will ever happen again.
Damn cat.
Hi Miss Chic Lady – it’s me, lorettadog :oP. I say “Damn cat” too! Mama says that the kitties are nice, and she loves them too, but dogs RULE in our family. That’s the way it should be. Mama was feeding a stray kitty this summer, but we had to take it to the Humane Society cause she couldn’t live with us (we have enough kitties already), and she was going to have little babies.

Now she’s in a foster care home with her 3 little babies and pretty soon they will all be looking for a home. They told Mama to watch for her on the Petfinders place on the puter. I liked her okay, she was a sweet little girl kitty like our Buffy :oP. I hope Sara will be okay.

Poor Sara! Sophie is just too wild, I’m afraid. She MUST have been a stray; she certainly is NOT socialized! It’s too late, unfortunately, to socialize her the way she needs to be. She might get a little better, but not much.

I agree with FD… she sounds like she has a feral streak in her a mile long. As for bites: my grandfather’s siamese cat laid in to me last year when I went to hold one of her kits. The kitten mewed and Scamp scaled my leg and bit me numerous times. It was utterly painful… I had to end up putting antibacteria salve on the spots for a while.
