Band & Cleaning
I had to do piccolo solo’s last night at band. They passed out new music and the other piccolo player wasn’t there. These are solo’s that she always plays but that someone needed to cover for the night so the flute players passed them to me. One of the pieces was difficult, the other not so much. This is music the band plays almost every year but that was completely new to me. But I went for it and impressed the entire flute section. I got lots of compliments during break. 🙂 Needless to say I felt pretty good afterwards. I was nervous as all hell though, I haven’t played solo anything since high school. I’m going to go ahead and practice the solo’s just in case, I may end up with one of them but I don’t know, we’ll see.
I’m doing some cleaning in the kitchen today. Moving some stuff around and whatnot. Trying to make the room flow a little better and give myself more workspace and such. I hate our kitchen. It’s big but it doesn’t flow very well. I’ll be glad when we renovate and move the kitchen so that I’ll be able to pick out how I want things. We really need a kitchen arranged so that two people can work in there without being in each others way. We both love to cook and while I do a lot of the cooking myself during the week we tend to do a lot of cooking together on the weekends.
Anyway, not a lot going on. I think we’re just going to kind of hang out this weekend. Hubby may want to try to do a project, there are a couple unfinished ones sitting around. One being that 6 foot church pew we picked up off the side of the road. It’s most of the way sanded now but that needs to be finished so we can glue some areas that need gluing and then it can be painted. Eventually it’ll be all pretty and it’ll live in the entryway and will give people a place to sit and take their shoes off and a place to put things other than on the floor. I’ll be able to pile mail there instead of on the kitchen island even. 🙂
Anyway, I think I’ve had a sufficient break so back to work.
