*sigh* I just lost an OD. At least it wasn’t OD’s fault. Our friggin power went out. That gets really old. Our power goes off at random times during the day a lot. Our digital cable fucks up a lot during the day too. It makes me crazy. Normally when I need these things during the day I’m here sick. Or working from home. When the power goes out while I’m working from home I tend to get really grumpy.

Sophie is a good mommy so far but you can tell she’s pretty frustrated by how needy the babies are. She comes over to me for attention and the babies will start crying for her. She will sometimes ignore them, but when they cry louder, more urgently, she’s all over it.

She’s doing everything she’s supposed to do. Feeding them when they cry, letting them sleep when they want to do that. Licking their little bottoms to stimulate them to go to the bathroom. Usually when they’re asleep is when she comes out for attention or goes to do her own things.

I was able to change out the towel in her nest this morning. She doesn’t seem to mind when I move her babies around. I pulled them all out, replaced the towel and put them back. She watched me, but didn’t seem too upset by the whole ordeal. I got to take a closer look at the kittens. The little grey one is a grey striped tabby. There’s one black one that has what looks like calico markings. I can’t really tell if it’s actually going to be a calico or if it’s just going to have some colored splotches, we’ll see as they get older.

They’re so cute and tiny. I might get hubby to help me get pictures of each kitten tonight. I’ll probably try to get one picture of each baby a week to document their growth and so I have “baby pictures” for the new owners. They’ll do a lot of growing over the next 8 weeks.

I was kind of dissapointed last night about laser tag, despite my excitement about the kittens. I had actually started looking forward to going to play. We’ll go next time, hopefully there will be a next time.

Tonight we’ve got to go to the grocery store and pick up a couple things the delivery service was out of along with the cat litter we buy, which the delivery service doesn’t carry. We use cedar litter for our cats. I don’t care for the clay stuff, it’s dusty, heavy and not as healthy as a more natural wood litter.

We’ll probably stop at game stop too, maybe see if there are any good nintendo 64 games for cheap. Provided Sophie is doing well with her babies we might head out to that butterfly atrium thing tomorrow. That’s about all we have planned. Sunday we’ll probably hang around the house and Monday someone hubby knows from work wants to come by and bring his field dog. I think it’s an Irish Setter.

Anyway, I should probably check on my work stuff.

It’s a good thing you are handling the kittens right now — to socialize cats, you have to pretty much handle them from birth. They’ll be sweet cats, not brats like their mama!

RYN: Man, you’re gonna want to KEEP all the kittens after all that! LMAO!!! (As if you don’t already want to keep them all!)

sounds like the babies are doing great! i can’t wait to see more pictures and i’m sure that the new owners will appreciate having baby pictures when they adopt these little guys. we tried natural litter, but our cats wouldn’t use it.
