And here’s my “normal” entry for the day. 🙂
I came to work today. I can’t say that I feel much better but I have stuff that needs doing. I do think I have tonsillitis. My tonsils are swollen, red, and sore, swallowing hurts, I’m nauseus, and I feel icky all over. Everything except the sore throat is feeling somewhat better today. I feel bad coming in to work sick but no one seems to ever catch what I have. I tend to steer clear of people, especially when I’m sick.
I think hubby was about ready to kill some people in Hartford this morning. Not only were there people in the way that didn’t need to be in the way but one asshole turns a corner, honks and slams on his brakes, why? To wave at someone. We nearly rear-end his stupid ass all because he wants to wave at someone. Something I used to tell my dad (jokingly) was that I think there should be “Open Season” on Stupid people. Y’know how there’s deer season and duck season and stuff for hunting. Well, we should have a stupid people season. That way when someone does something obviously completely stupid we can shoot them. Someone slams on their brakes in the middle of the road to honk and wave you can shoot them. You’d have to be able to prove that it was REALLY stupid though, someone holding up a line because they can’t find their pen while it was behind their ear the whole time or something of that nature doesn’t count. *shrug* My dad seemed to think it was a pretty good idea. 😉
Next week I’m booking our rooms in Oklahoma (gets excited). I can’t wait till the trip! It’s not so much the Oklahoma part as the drive though. Driving cross country is the love of my life. *sigh*
I watched a really sad show yesterday. I watch a lot of Animal Planet and yesterday on “A Pet Story” (it’s all true stories about pets) they showed a couple that had several lizards, a turtle, a cat and 3 greyhounds. They had originally gotten one greyhound from a woman that works with people at REGAP in Vermont to place the dogs. Then they realized that what everyone says about Greyhounds is true, that you can’t just have one. They got another to keep their dog company and ended up keeping yet another one that they were fostering. One day when they went off to work and their house caught fire. None of the animals made it out alive, except a lizard and the turtle. They were devastated as anyone would be. They were also afraid that REGAP wouldn’t give them any more greyhounds. The woman who had given them the dogs said that this tragedy was out of their control and of course they could have another greyhound. In fact, she ended up surprising them with two. The show closed with a ceremony for them accepting the new dogs surrounded by those that had known the dogs they had lost and friends of the people that had lost the dogs. And of course, it left me looking for tissues.
Damned sappy stories. Daytime Animal planet shows a lot of stuff like this and always leaves me feeling silly because there I am sitting on the couch all teary eyed. I used to make fun of my mom for that.
And of course, this morning, as I shut the door to our house the thought of what happened to that couple crossed my mind. Every day I walk out of my house leaving 5 cats (one of them pregnant), a dog, a hamster and 6 bettas in there. I can’t imagine if anything were to happen to them. Those little lives are my life and love.
It also hit me the other day that if Sophie has the average 4 kittens we’re going to have 9 cats living in our house for ten weeks!!! At the rate we’re going too the kittens are still going to be with us when we go to Oklahoma which means our neighbors are going to have to care for them while we’re away. They’ll love it though. I might let the kittens go home at 8 weeks but I like to keep them the recommended 10-12 to make sure they’re fully socialized and ready. It’s much better for kittens to go home at that age. We’ll see, it’ll all depend on the kittens themselves.
I wish I knew more about little Sophie’s past. She was either born a stray or born to someone who didn’t know what to do with kittens. She was obviously weaned too early and she isn’t well socialized at all. I mean, her idea of affection is biting the shit out of my nose. She also has a tendency to crawl up and “nurse” on blankets or clothing. I’ve never had a cat like this, it’s been an interesting experience. I’m finally getting to put some of my knowledge to good use. 🙂
Anyway, I do have work to do so I better go.
Okay, now I’m crying.
