We started off the morning around 9:20am sitting out on the porch with the cats and some powdered donuts. Then we got to work on mowing. I started edging with the push-mower. When I got to work over by the garden I felt a sharp stinging pain in my shoulder blade. I ignored it a sec then when it didn’t go away I brushed at it with my gloved hand. That’s when I realized it was a fucking bee or wasp or something. I shut off the mower and stomped into the house repeating over and over “Fuck..Fuck…etc.” Y’see everyone in my family is severely allergic to wasps, to the point of having to be rushed to the hospital. I yelled for hubby who was out at the barn he came in and when I turned around to show him the sting he stated that the bee was still on me. It had ridden into the house on my shirt. He killed it and I proceeded to lay down on the floor as I was sweating, slightly-dizzy, and freaked out. Hubby put meat tenderizer on the sting and I stayed on the floor a bit. The first time I tried to get up I realized I was still dizzy but the second time I was okay. I’m fine though, we made lunch and after lunch I was able to get back to work. It didn’t really swell all the much but it’s gone and it doesn’t hurt anymore. I must be lucky, short of like sinus allergies the only other severe allergy I have is to metals. I can’t wear jewelery that’s not real silver or white gold. Even yellow gold makes me break out. So yeah, either I’m lucky or the fact that I’m on antihistime’s already for my allergies saved me from the bee sting.

Anyway, I went back to mowing. I was doing around the rocks out front when I saw something bright yellow which, at first I thought was going to be a huge bee so I jumped back. Then I looked again and realized it was a HUGE spider!!! It didn’t really frighten me. I had a way out so the arachniphobic part of me didn’t really react. I was more in awe of the size and colorings than anything. She was busily wrapping a small wasp in her web when I saw her. My hubby loves spiders so I waved him over and he ran inside to get the camera. So yes, I have a picture of this spider to share.

What a beauty eh? She can live out by the rocks but if she comes in my house she has to go!!!

That’s about it. We did end up going out to Fort Trumbull yesterday. Quite neat, not nearly as nice as the Fort Knox we went to in Maine, yes, there really is a Fort Knox in Maine, it was the first actually. Anyway, I have pictures from that but they’re not up yet. Hubby is going to put them up in one of his spiffy albums so I’ll post some after he gets around to that.

I should probably get going. I need a shower after all that mowing. I’ve got dirt and grass in places I didn’t even know dirt and grass could get. After that I’m going to crank up some tunes, clean the kitchen and then cook some supper. It was a toss up tonight. Pasta e Fagioli or Corn and Cheddar Chowder. mmmmm I’m going to make the Pasta e Fagioli though because it requires more vegetables, less to replace if they go bad before next weekend. That’s the only problem with our new shopping every two weeks thing. I fear stuff won’t last, it seems like everything from the grocery store doesn’t last all that long.

Anyway, so about that shower.

That is one huge spider! An to see that right after you had gotten stung by a bee? I would have freaked out and stayed inside for the rest of the day.
