Oh my god, we have the worst luck. On the way in to Hartford we heard a noise under the car. Neither of us had seen anything in the road so we didn’t know what the noise was. When I got out of the car on the passenger side I heard the all too familiar shhhhhhhhh noise a tire going flat makes. The noise was coming from the rear passenger tire. *sigh* All we have is the little dinky spare that came with the car so hubby has to make an appointment at the place we bought the snow tires for the Datsun. The only upside to this is at least the tire that now has a chunk of metal sticking out of it needs to be replaced anyway. We already had plans to replace the tires before the Oklahoma trip in October. Poor Zippy looks really funny with the dinky spare.

I have had more tire going flat issues than you can shake a stick at. There were a few little things, usually nails picked up by my tires in the road. Then one incident. Nancy and I were heading out to a park to see our friends Matt and Holly take swing dancing lessons. I hadn’t heard or felt anything but when we got into the parking lot I heard that tire going flat noise. That was by far, the worst incident of all time, there was a huge gash in my tire. I found a payphone and called my dad, who arrived about the same time as AAA. I got to ride home with dad and Nancy hitched a ride home with Matt. Then there was the time we drove down to Mystic, CT on my birthday. Hubby and I were going to stop at “Friendly’s” for lunch and when I got out of the car there was that noise. Luckily there was a gas station across the street that sold fix-a-flat. That worked beautifully!!! So we were able to enjoy lunch, go to the aquarium then go home and worry about the tire after the fun was over.

Okay, so yeah. Our tires are fixed now. 🙂

While I was typing hubby IM’d me and said we were to head out to get the tires fixed. So we did and now I’m back. We now have 4 brand new Bridgestone Insignia’s. They’re all-weather tires. They’re not balanced quite right though so we’re going to have to take it back to get that fixed. Ugh, always something. I’ve never been able to take a car in anywhere and have it come out 100% perfect. Even when we use the dealership.

I’ll have to take a picture of what was in the tire. It was like a four inch long peice of iron, it was shaped like part of a horseshoe and was really dark so it blended well with the road. I’m seriously tempted to send a picture of it to the Connecticut DOT. They leave more shit out in the road where they’ve been working and I have a feeling that’s what this is. They’d been working in that area quite a bit. This state is one of the worst for road hazards. Not only are the workers careless but people throw more shit out their windows here than you can even imagine.

Anyway, it’s 10pm and I haven’t gotten a bit of work done. Can’t stay late either cuz we have a grocery delivery coming at 3:30 so to work with me. 🙂

Here in IL the biggest hazard is drunk drivers killing IDOT workers. RYN: I’m not afraid of elevators, unless they’re glass, like the one I rode to a top-floor restaurant at a hotel in Phoenix. You’re enclosed for the first 30 floors, then all the sudden, the elevator is on the OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING and you’re standing in a glass elevator and it’s looking out over . . . NOTHING! Brrrrr……
