So, I’m at work today and no, the car isn’t fixed. My father in law called up last night and asked if we’d like to borrow his Ford Aspire. *sigh* It was a nice offer so we took him up on it but the thing is damn near dead itself. Just don’t try to go over 65 and you’ll be okay, maybe.
The lady at the dealership didn’t sound real sure that we’d get our car back today but offered us a loaner if we didn’t. That was nice, so at least we don’t have to drive the Aspire for more than today either way.
We lovingly refer to the Aspire as the Ass-pire.
I have my love for driving back. I’ve been able to get into the car without obsessing over what “might” happen to me a few times now. I felt really good yesterday when I drove hubby out to pick up his dads aspire. It felt good for a change. The weather was great yesterday too, relatively cool and cloudy. I like cloudy days, the sun hurts my eyes too much. I got in, rolled the windows down, cranked up Tool and off I went. I had just read an e-mail from my old friend from high school before I left and when Tool’s “Sober” came on it made me think back to the e-mail. That was one of her favorite songs and it got me reminiscing for most of the drive out there. I don’t know if hubby noticed or not but I chuckled to myself a few times, once I almost exploded into laughter but managed not to.
I love music, it brings back so many memories. I like a lot of different types of music and bands. Here’s a list of some of my favorite bands and what they remind me of.
Tool – My friend Denise from high school and now FallingDogs love of Adam Jones. 🙂
Nine Inch Nails – Being pissed off in high school and at my step-mom.
Rage Against the Machine – Driving around on the fourth of July with Denise.
Cake – Driving fast in my Datsun and also the one time I got to see them live. Blaring “Shut the Fuck up” as I drove past the pricipal of the Christian school I went to on the last day of school. He always stood out on the lawn in the morning.
Reel Big Fish – Summers with Matt and Nancy (high school friends) Also saw them in concert with Denise.
Sublime – Spring break in Oklahoma with soon to be hubby.
Everlast – Summer chillin in the car, also saw in concert with Denise.
Insane Clown Posse – Fall, October, Halloween. Saw them live too with hubby.
Beastie Boys – Spring break in CT with my soon to be hubby.
Fastball & Dave Matthews – Road Trips
Barenaked Ladies – Summers, relaxing, washing my car.
Anyway, our project of the weekend is screening in the back porch. Little Sophie is an escape artist, since she used to be an outdoor cat she wants to go back outside. Screening the porch in will keep her from getting away if she manages to slip out the door. It will also give us a place to sit without being molested by wasps and mosquitos. I haven’t decided 100% if I’m going to let the cats “hang out” on the porch after we screen it in. It’ll be nice for them but I don’t really want them all trying to rush through the door every time it’s opened. We had that happening in our old apartment. They ALWAYS wanted out into the entryway and it got to be a pain in the ass. Kenny is quick, he’d rush out, charge up the stairs that led to the neighbors door upstairs and he’d crouch. Casper though, is hillarious because he’ll walk right past you, meowing and chirping the whole way. He knows when he’s doing something he’s not supposed to but it’s almost like he’s saying “I know I’m not supposed to do this but I REALLY want to”. If we do let them out it’ll only be when we’re home and we’ll have to lock the door to the porch to keep anyone from accidently letting anyone out.
Well, I should probably get to work. I got in late this morning.
Oh, that is so cool how you listed some of your favorite music and the memories that go with it!!!! I always call them Ford EXpires . . .
