LOL, as I type our 3 year old half siamese is charging around in the office, earlier he chased his tail. 🙂 I don’t know what’s gotten into him but he’s quite the kitten tonight.
Sara is doing fantastic although we did have a “why the hell did we get a puppy moment last night”. It ended with me in tears wishing for my old life back. Yesterday though was the first day we left her home the ENTIRE time we were at work. When we came home it was like the first day all over again, she had no manners and she seemed to have forgotten all her potty training. Today though she’s been a little angel. I guess yesterday was just an “adjustment” day. She even “asked” to be let out today for the first time. She went to the back door and we were like “Um, is she trying to tell us she wants to go out?” Sure enough, hubby took her out and she went to the bathroom! So there’s a step in the right direction.
I’ve been trying to teach her to lay down and she’s finally really starting to catch on. I tested her by saying down without moving the treat towards the floor like I usually do and she plopped down on her own! Yay Sara! So now she understands “Sit” and “Down”, she’s also starting to understand “Wait”. We use that one when we give her the food dish, she had a nasty habit of ending up with both feet in her food dish. 🙂
I think she’s going to turn out to be a really good dog. I’m pleased.
The cats are getting more and more curious each day. Even Kenny isn’t terrified of her noises anymore, obviously, since he playing instead of hiding. I think Kenny has a lot of pent up energy right now since he hasn’t been able to run as much and stuff. Usually him and Sally will chase up and down the stairs and stuff, I’m sure they’ll be back to that in no time. 🙂
In other news it seems to be warming up although it did snow quite a bit today. It’s not as cold as it could be. I miss the warm weather. I miss sleeping with the windows open and wearing tank tops. I miss sitting in the chicken coop watching the chickens peck all around and listening to the roo’s crowing. I miss the green tree’s, birds. Ahh warm weather. The only thing I don’t miss are the bugs, especially the wasps! We have a huge problem with ground wasps at our place. At one point hubby was getting stung every time we cut the grass. We’re going to have to stay right on top of those this year I DON’T want Sara getting stung! In addition to ground wasps we have paper wasps all over the outside of the house and shit, in the porch light fixture, under overhands and shit. Last year we even had a fucking huge white faced hornet nest in one of our tree’s. One morning it was dark and we turned on the outside light to go down to the chicken coop, came back and those fuckers were swarming our porch light!!! Those motherfuckers are attracted to light and have a nasty sting. Worst part of all this is that everyone in my family is extremely allergic to wasps. I’ve never been stung because I’ve always been extremely cautious of them so I don’t know if I’ll have a reaction. I don’t eat outside or do anything that might attract them, I don’t want to risk it. When we go camping I eat in the tent. 🙂 My grandma got stung a few years ago and had to be rushed to the hospital, I don’t want that to happen to me! I’ve noticed too that there’s a hell of a lot more wasps here than there were in Oklahoma. I never had a problem at picnics in Oklahoma, here though if you’ve got food outside you’re wasp bait, in Oklahoma flies were the worst part of picnicing.
Ah well, Sara’s settled, Kenny and the rest of the cats went to sleep so I’m going to play me a bit of neverwinter. 🙂
Ugh, I HATE wasps!!!! Sounds as if Sara is coming along fine. It just takes patience to train a puppy, something I am usually in short supply of, so I certainly do admire the stamina you and hubby have in taking on such a big task! At least with rescued greyhounds, they come to you already all grown up.
