I’m back at work today which is really awkward. There’s nothing weirder than being back at work after a week out sick. I miss snuggling in bed with the kitties although it was starting to get boring. The only thing I had to entertain myself with was daytime TV and well, that sucked for the most part.

I dyed my hair black on Saturday. The recent red dye was kind of a prelude to this. You see I couldn’t just go from bleached to black cuz I run the chance of turning my hair GREEN! 🙂 I had to get some color back into my hair before I did the black. I’ve wanted to dye my hair black for years but my dad would never let me and then I figured it would freak hubby out. But he’s cool with it so it’s all good. 🙂

We drove out to find the house of the golden breeder on Sunday. It was a good thing we did so b/c the directions we printed of mapquest were confusing. We ended up on a couple of dirt roads. One dirt road showed to go all the way to the road we needed to be on but no, halfway we were met with no trespassing signs. The second dirt road let to the road we needed to be on and we eventually found the place. I saw a couple of goldens in the yard and stuff. 🙂 Now next week when we go to meet our puppy we know exactly where to go.

We picked up a crate on Saturday for the puppy. Originally we weren’t going to do crate training but, after reading some information written by a professional trainer and looking around my house at all the potential puppy dangers, we decided maybe crating would be a good idea. Our original plan was to give the puppy free reign over the kitchen but even that was going to require a lot of puppy proofing. Also with the crate it gives the puppy a ‘home’ even if we aren’t at home. Dogs eventually come to associate the crate with a nice cozy safe place so when we travel and stuff we’ll be able to take the fold down crate and set it up in hotels and stuff along the way. She’ll always have her home. 🙂

The cats weren’t real sure of the crate. We’re making all the changes and setting everything up now so the cats don’t associate changes like us moving their food. Putting away most of their small toys and adding puppy things with the puppy. The only thing that will change is that on March 4th we’ll add a puppy to the equation, one little step at a time.

I’m really excited! The three weeks between meeting the puppy and taking her home are going to be the hardest 3 weeks ever. I really hope this month passes quickly!!

Well, more and more people are arriving to work. It doesn’t look good that I’m not working since I’ve been out so I better get to it. 🙂

Oh, how exciting!!!! I’m a firm advocate of crate-training. It helps to housebreak a dog and it’s a safe place for them. As your puppy becomes more mature and better-trained he/she won’t need a crate (except for travel or thunder storms). Do you have a name picked out yet???? How fun!!!!
