Happy Samhain/Halloween to everyone!

We have no plans for tonight other than getting our vacation pictures posted. We won’t get any trick or treaters at our place because of the busy road we live on. We also didn’t have time to prepare anything this year since we were just on vacation. This being my favorite holiday, hubby and I usually make cookies for our coworkers and neighbors. We didn’t get to this year.

Heh, I just got distracted and started checking nutrition info at Taco Bell. Eating vegetarian is cutting out a lot of calories. I’m really liking this. I was quite a bit thinner when I just didn’t eat red meat, but I also had braces and this thing in the roof of my mouth and another in the bottom that was actually widening my jaw. My mouth hurt so much I lived off very soft foods for a long time so I’m sure that contributed as well. Oh man did I hate that thing, but my profile actually looks better now because my jaw has been widened, I used to have a narrow pointy little chin that I just hated. So it was worth it.

Did I mention kittens are destructive? They’re little hellions now and are destroying everything with their sharp little claws. The two blankets on the bed in their room are ruined because they climb up it and scratch on it. They started destroying my bath robe which I put out of sight this morning and they’re constantly scratching all my rugs! Their room stinks of kitten pee too, they occasionally get the bright idea to just pee here or there instead of their litter box. As much as I love them it will be a relief when they head off to their new homes.

Our neighbors asked to come over tomorrow night to visit the kittens. We still don’t know if they’re going to decide to take one. We know they want one but can they get past the whole what if something happens thing? I guess we’ll find out.

We have to clean the house this weekend and wash the car. Poor car, it’s dirty as can be. We also noticed a souvenier from our trip. Near Chicago we hit a huge tire tread, y’know how truckers re-tread their tires and the shit comes off. Well one of those was in the middle of the highway and we had no choice but to hit it. It busted the underside of the bumper a bit. Nothing horrible really, we didn’t even notice it until yesterday when I spotted a bit of plastic hanging. You won’t even be able to tell once we remove that bit of plastic. I really wish truckers wouldn’t re-tread their tires, when that shit comes off it can be quite a hazard. If we hadn’t replaced our crappy ass Hankook tires before the trip hitting that tread would probably have blown them out in addition to busting up the underside of the bumper. Our car is slowly turning into a beater car, hehe. Our windsheild is all pitted and rough and never looks clean because of the winter sand hitting it, there’s a pretty good sized dent in the roof too from something hard and round falling out of a tree onto it on the back roads near our house. *shrugs* I’m really just glad it’s not my Datsun taking all this abuse, thank goodness we were able to afford this cheapo little Accent. 🙂 Cars that you commute in everyday and take on road trips suffer a lot of abuse. Short of the A/C not working it’s been a damn good little car too.

*frowns* Those damned stinky bugs that have decided to take up residence in our house have started taking over. Ick, I swear, every time I turn around I see one. I’m always yelling “eww eww, hubby, one of THOSE bugs is in here”. That and the ladybugs, those are coming in full force now. At least our ladybugs are nice. When we went to visit Cyndi I experienced a mean ladybug for the first time, lol. See, as a kid I used to play with them so I think nothing of picking up a ladybug or letting them crawl on me. Well, at one of the rest stops in IL I was trying to rescue one from being smushed in the trunk when we shut it and the damn thing bit my finger!! Ladybugs aren’t supposed to bite!! Cyndi informed us that they’re not ladybugs, they’re Japanese Beetles. I noticed they’re a slightly different color than the one’s we have at home, thank goodness. If we had Japanese Beetles moving in every winter I’d have to scream. Thank goodness the ladybugs are nice in CT. 🙂

Hubby started on the pics from the trip last night, he’s going to finish them up tonight. So I should have those to share tonight.

Ugh, this is going to be an unpleasant day. A woman that sits next to me just showed up with her noisy ass kids. That and it’s freezing in here. This stupid office, I swear, they got cheap with the heat when AIG bought us out. I never had to wear long sleeves and a sweater just to be barely warm enough in the winter here at work until last year. I’m probably more uncomfortable than most people though, I only hear a few people complain, I’m always cold though. My family was making me crazy while we were in Oklahoma too, they had their damn A/C’s on way too cold. For once though, my moms house wasn’t the most frigid, my grandmothers was. I was freezing sitting in her living room. I almost went to get my sweater even though it was 80 degree’s outside!! My mom keeps the temp on like 62 or something crazy though. She honestly believes that if you don’t keep your house cold germs will thrive and you’ll be sick all the time. She also made me wear socks all the time as a kid so I wouldn’t catch a cold and she wouldn’t let me play outside if it was chilly because she said I’d get pneumonia. I’ll never forget when I read an article in readers digest in 5th grade that told all about how those ideas were wrong and confronted her with them. To this day she doesn’t believe you can go to bed with wet hair in the winter and not risk catching a cold. *chuckles*

Anyway, my cold ass is going to see about getting some work done in my frigid cubicle.

I hope you have a good Halloween! 🙂

We have the ladybeetle infestation too! It happened a few years ago, and now again! But they aren’t ladybugs…they are multicoloured asian ladybeetles, and they CAN bite! I’ve never been bitten though. http://www.ent.orst.edu/urban/Harmonia.html

Do you have a LJ or GJ? I am on those much more, is why I ask.

Tire treads and mean lady bugs — I live in a dangerous state!!!! You know, I have never ever craved meat since I gave it up 22 years ago.
