Haha, who’s typing in the car?! Hubbys laptop doesn’t have a functioning battery so that’s an accomplishment. 🙂 We bought a power converter for the car at the last truck stop. It would suck if we got into an accident b/c we can’t turn the airbags off in our car and this computer is between me and the airbag, but that’s a risk I’m willing to take. 😉
Anyway, can I just say I fucking hate this southern ass route, Southern Hospitality is starting to wear on my nerves. Yankee’s are a rude bunch, I’m not used to being treated like a person anymore. lol This southern crap, when these people ask “How are you today” they really want to know!!! People in Nashville were fucking loud. The Waffle House we went to at 5am was jam packed full of loud ass people. And yes, you read that right, we went to the fucking Waffle House at 5am. We got up at 4am. 🙂 We were on central time but were only like 3 hours from Eastern time so it seemed silly to set our clocks back for 3 hours. I hate Virginia, Highway 81 sucks nuts. It’s 2 lane and busy-ass. It was also pouring down rain for most of the day. It’s 8:30 right now and we’re about an hour or so from our hotel for tonight. We should have been there like an hour ago. Oh man, another reason for that. We got the bright idea to try this spiffy looking restaurant somewhere in TN. Well, apparently everyone eats at 11am in that town so it took us a full hour to get out of that joint. Sara has also been screwing around at rest area’s all day too. She must be getting sick of this travelling because she’s stalling about getting back in the car.
I don’t think I’ve gotten more than 5 hours of sleep a night since we left home last Saturday. Surprisingly my body is handling it okay, I think I’m running off pure adrenaline now. I’ll probably crash when I get back home to my own cozy bed. It’s been weird b/c hubby and I haven’t been sleeping in the same bed at all the hotels. A queen sized bed is just big enough for both of us to sleep without annoying each other, we had a king in Tulsa, which was awesome but a lot of the little hotels we’re staying in on the way have 2 full sized beds and yeah, right. We both like to sleep with our knee’s out and stuff so that just doesn’t work. I wonder how many couple’s do that, sleep in separate beds when there’s two smaller than what they’re used to. It’s weird sleeping alone, I kind of like it because I don’t have to be polite, I can hog as much as I want and steal all the sheets I need, hehe. I miss my heater though (hubby), when I sleep alone in the winter I have to have either a hubby or my electric blanket b/c I get too cold otherwise.
We get home tomorrow. I can’t wait, I miss the kitties. From the hotel tomorrow we’re going to take 95 in the rest of the way. That means we’re going through Washington, DC, Philly, NY City and some big cities in CT. Hopefully traffic won’t be too awful. 81 sucks hardcore though so whatever. Hopefully I’ll be able to get some decent pictures and stuff from the road, I don’t know how far from everything the loops around DC go but we’ll see.
I’m trying to figure out what to do with all the crap my mom bought me. Someone needs to remind my mom that I have ENOUGH shit. lol, I really do appreciate and love everything she got me, it felt like Christmas but seriously, I’m out of flat surfaces!! I think I’m going to evict my china and put everything in the china cabinet. She got me a bunch of golden retriever stuff which is just too cute. She loaded me up with beanie kitties too. I love those but I don’t buy them for myself. She asked when I was there which one’s I had and I told her I only had the one’s she’s bought for me and she nearly hit the floor, she gave me that same look she used to give me when I said I hadn’t cleaned my room. lol I didn’t have the heart to tell her I think the whole beanie obsession is well, kind of retarded. I love the kitties though, I just don’t buy them for myself. I’ve got better things I could spend my money on, like bills. And besides, she buys them for me without telling me so if I’d bought them for myself I’d have duplicates of everything anyway. Silly mommy.
We stopped at a neat little gift shop in TN, we found some Apple Jelly, which we got for our neighbors as a thank-you gift for taking care of our pets. Last time we got them a cute little wooden kitty wall hanging. This time hubby found the apple-jelly and said we should get them something they can use and not something that just sits around, so that’s what we did. I’ve got to pick up a thank-you card still, but that’ll be easy, I collect stationary so I’ve got blank cards at home if I don’t find one. I’m really glad to have our neighbors, there’s no way we could go on vacations like this if they weren’t animal lovers. There’s not really anyone else around that I trust enough to take really good care of everyone. Even if they took care of their needs they wouldn’t play with them and give them love and that’s something that’s really important to me.
We probably will take this route again even though it kind of sucks, there’s a lot of stuff to see out here. We’ll have to do it when we can take 2 weeks off or something like that. We’ll probably still spend the same amount of time actually in Tulsa but we’ll have more time to do stuff on the way there and then on the way back. It’s been really stressful though because of the traffic and stuff, both of us were getting pretty grumpy and miserable. It’s not as fun to travel when we’re grumpy, hehe, I do a lot of reading when that happens. It’s better now that we’re off 81 and close to our hotel though. I’m still really ready for today to be over with. And yay, it will be within the hour, maybe I can get 6 hours of sleep tonight, woot!!
I finished Fast Food Nation today. That’s a really good book. I recommend it for anyone curious about the “Dark side of the American meal”. I really enjoyed it and learned a lot. I definitely feel less inclined to eat fast food now. And I’d still really like to switch to a vegetarian diet, we’re working on it, slowly, that and organic food, it’s taking time getting used to how everything tastes. Just about everything tastes quite a bit different, some good, some bad. I bought some all-natural vegan butter awhile back and that shit is good and much, much healthier.
Heh, anyway, I’m going to get off of here. Obviously when this is posted to OD that means we made it to our little hotel in Warrenton, VA. It’s too bad we don’t have a wireless internet connection, hehe.
Later!
