Oh, what is this world coming to. Today I had a small child cut right in front of me while I was putting cream and sugar in my coffee. Now, it certainly wasn’t her fault, she was just following her fathers request to “get a straw”. When I was her age, probably around 4, I would have been told to “say ‘excuse me’ to the lady” if I was going to be in someone’s way. I see no end to the rudeness we see today. The current rude people aren’t going to teach their children any manners. *sigh* I see a lot of really awesome parents out there raising really good kids, a lot of them here on OD, I just wish they were the majority!
Anyway, lets talk about those chores we were supposed to do last night? Want to hear how many of those got completed? Half of the dishes got done, and I didn’t even do them, hubby did. I sat behind him reading an article on “The Sims” out loud to him from my “Psychology Today” magazine. I had intended to clean off the kitchen table and stuff but that article caught my eye when I flipped through the new issue. *shrug* So now we have a ton of stuff to do tonight. This is what happens when procrastinators marry.
I did pack some of my makeup this morning. I wanted to see how much of it would fit into this neat little carry case thingy I got. It’s basically a notebook. It folds open like a folder and has a little mirror that pops up. It only holds my eye-makeup though. I’m one of those people with a HUGE makeup collection and I only take about a quarter of it on vacation with me but that’s still quite a bit. I just love doing makeup, you’d think I was some kind of makeup artist. Ever want a makeover, call me! I started going to Mary Kay parties with my mom when I was in the 6th grade. I’ve been a makeup lover ever since although I don’t use Mary Kay anymore, I buy from Yves Rocher, they have the best foundation I’ve ever used. I can go swimming with my foundation and waterproof mascara on and it will still be on when I get out of the pool.
*yawn* I still can’t believe we’re leaving on Saturday. I’m starting to feel the pressure. It will be really nice to have an actual break from work. Luckily my work-load has been pretty light this week. Last time we went to Oklahoma, I was so pissed but right as I was walking out someone came over saying they needed this 60 page form scanned and entered into our forms database. I told her I was leaving and she said “Okay, but no later than Monday” so then I said “I’m on vacation next week and we’re leaving for Oklahoma now” and she demanded that I stay late and do it for her. Problem with that was we were leaving that day right after work, heading out of town from work. We ended up losing an hour of driving because of her and hit heavy traffic since we were leaving Hartford at 4 instead of 3, right when almost everyone else leaves. I wanted to smack her. We normally would leave on Friday night, if we didn’t have Sara. We decided we wouldn’t get enough driving in the first night since we’d have to go home first and get Sara. We’d be losing an hour or so just getting Sara then we’d be hitting Hartford and stuff right during the evening rush.
I really hope Sara is going to be good during the trip. My biggest concern is that she’s going to be scared and bark or something in the hotel. Y’know how people are up all hours of the night in hotels. We definitely couldn’t have taken her like 6 months ago but I’m hoping we’ll be good now. 6 months ago she still barked a lot at unfamiliar noises. She would bark when we came home and at 5am if we didn’t get to her fast enough. I’m hoping how she’s behaved in the homes of others is how she’s going to behave in the hotel. Awhile back we took her to hubbys aunts house and Sara was crated during the dinner. Everyone was amazed that she wasn’t barking since she could see everyone and was caged. We trained her that way though, we’d crate her and completely ignore her if she barked. Now when she’s crated she just gives you the ole eye shift. Y’know look at you, look at her toy, look at you, look at the crate door latch, look back at you. I hope this will hold true in the hotel when she’s crated for the night. I’m sure if she’s a problem at least once we get to Tulsa we can leave her with my mom. She’s a pretty good girl though, I think she’ll be fine as long as we’re with her though, she seems to understand there’s no problem if her people are around. I tend to stick to the ole hope for the best, prepare for the worst philosophy though, that way you’re always prepared for anything. And being a natural worry wart I pretty much think of every possible bad scenario. 😉 Being a worrier is occasionally a good thing, I’ve been prepared for things on trips when my parents were at a loss as to how to fix such and such problem.
Anyway, hubby is coming down to use the scanner so I’m going to close this so I can bug him. 🙂
Don’t worry too much, though! I’d have told that lady, “You’ll have to find someone else to do this task. We have a plane to catch.” Or, if you don’t want to out-and-out lie, you could just say, “Sorry, but we have to leave at exactly 3:00. Please find someone else to do this copying.” And then leave.
