*stretches* I just spent 4 hours converting help files to Word docs. It’s not difficult, but damn is it boring. This isn’t what I expected to do today. I expected to goof around, add some forms to the forms database, goof around, work on the telephone directory, goof around, then go home. heh. Didn’t happen.

Why is it that all the work comes in at once. I haven’t had a damn thing to do for weeks, now all of a sudden this morning I had about 20 forms to enter, 2 phone directories to update, 3 huge help files to convert to word and a bunch of crap to add to one of my boss’s CMS projects. And to top it all off, I’m sick. Not like dying sick, but sick enough it’s hard to focus on anything for any length of time.

I broke out the Halloween decorations this morning. I couldn’t wait. I LOVE Halloween decorations. Hey, I’m a cat lover and there are a lot of cat Halloween decorations. I brought 2 in to work and hubby brought in his metal spider, I put the rest of the decorations on the mantle. The mantle is about the only thing in the house I decorate though. I thought about getting some tacky-ass pumpkin lights for the porch or something like that. *shrug* I don’t know if I will bother, it’s not like we get trick or treaters or anything. The road we live on is too busy for kids to walk down.

We dumped our pathetipool last night. It’s now waterless and laying flat outside, we didn’t have time to scrub it down and dry it last night so there it sits, looking even more pathetic that it does when it’s full. Hubby had to go fix someone’s computer and I didn’t feel much like cleaning the damn thing by myself. We’ll probably finish cleaning it up tonight provided it’s not raining. Our neighbors must think we’re the laziest people alive, and maybe we are. We leave more unfinished shit outside. Our yard is rarely cut nicely and we just let the weeds have our garden. At one point I tried to “fix” the garden and ended up getting stung by a wasp literally like 2 minutes into the project. Screw that! 🙂

We have to get rid of one of our roosters. 🙁 We had a hen die the other day, unknown causes. She had been fine and the next morning she was dead. She was my favorite too, the white hen, Daisy. As it is we already have more roosters than we need. The hens are being mated too often and it’s causing feathers on their backs to get pulled out. It doesn’t hurt them or anything really, they just look weird. I’ll probably place an ad in the paper for him in a day or two. We’re getting rid of the Silver Penciled Wyandotte, Henry, he’s rougher on the hens. He’s also the prettiest. Of course, getting rid of a beautiful rooster can be a bonus, less of a chance someone would take him for eating or something crazy.

It’s down to only 2 weeks before we go to Oklahoma!! I planned this trip months ago and it still managed to sneak up on me. I looked at the calendar this morning and thought “whoa”. I need to get on planning where exactly to stay on the way down there and back. Since we’re traveling with our Golden Retriever we’re going to check hotels ahead of time. We’re traveling back with my step-sisters cat so that’ll be even more fun. She moved to Maine from Oklahoma a couple months ago, my dad still has her cat. She couldn’t take the cat since she had to take a greyhound bus to Maine. We agreed to bring her cat to CT and she could pick it up from us here. I booked our room in Oklahoma last month, so that’s all set at least. I decided to get a suite in Oklahoma, Sara’s a big dog, the thought of us and her in a normal sized hotel room for a week made me cringe. Plus the suite was just a couple bucks more a night. How can you go wrong?

I’m looking forward to the trip. It’ll be different though, hopefully this year my dad will have decided to do that thing where you get in the shower and wash yourself. My dad has this habit of not bathing for weeks, it’s really gross. And he wonders why I shy away when he wants to hug me. ICK. My grandfather has Alzheimer’s and it kind of makes me uncomfortable to be around him, y’know because it’s hard to communicate with him. My little cousin is 18 years old now!!! Last time I visited it was weird because she was driving! Now she’s legally an adult, hell, she’s the age I was when I got married. I’m sure I won’t see my baby brother at all, seeing him would involve seeing my ex-step-mother. There’s just no way I could see her, just the thought of her fills me with rage. I’m sure even if I could stomach seeing her she wouldn’t let me see him anyway. She’d come up with plenty of excuses and lies just like she does to keep my father away from him.

Well anyway, I get to go home in half an hour. Maybe. My hubby’s boss has turned into super-prick lately and it’s gotten hard to get out of here on time. So we’ll see. I should probably go print forms now.

Thanks for the note! Meeting friends is the hardest part, yeah. :/ And I’d love a kitten, but with all the pets I have already [and I have A LOT] Damian would kill me if I agreed to take a kitten. Sorry to hear about your hen. 🙁 I had a hamster die recently…that was tough. Hope you feel better…

…everyone seems to be getting sick! And hope your trip to Oklahoma is good…don’t stress about planning too much! BTW, I have a friend named Brandi who lives in OK. 🙂
