a tree once said..

This tree…

When I was younger I would often go on mini forest adventures to visit this tree. It was a huge tree. I thought it must have been the biggest tree in the world. I felt special for having this tree so close to where I lived. My friends and I would all hold hands around the tree to see how many of us it took to encircle the trunk.

A few years ago I took another mini forest adventure to the tree. It wasn’t the same. The walk through the woods was just that, a quick walk. There was no adventure attached to it. Arriving at the tree was underwhelming . It no longer seemed so huge. It seemed to be an average size tree. your every day ordinary tree. I stood underneath the trees branches looking up and wondered what it was that made the tree so special. I snapped a quick picture and headed out of the forest.

The tree didn’t change. I did. I grew up, but the tree remained the same. The magic of a simple tree became less impressive, and the magic of being high took its place. The magic of self destuction was forefront, and the magic of simplicity took steps backward. It kept moving back until it reached the end of the line, where I soon forgot about it.

I miss seeing things through my young minds eye.  It seems like as you grow older, an invisable adult sheild begings to grow and cover your once clear minds eye.

A lot gets lost along the way. But you can’t go back and try to retrieve the lost things. You have to keep walking. With each step you take, the magic fades, until it becomes but a tiny speck in the distance and  Infront of you lies the real world.

That’s a really amazing picture. RYN: I’m over it. Lol. I don’t fret about people like I used to. And thank you. =) My hair decided to be nice and look good in that pic. XD

<3 It’s true our mind changes, but we don’t have to loose that magic, we just need to adapt what magic means to us 🙂 ~~~>
