Ekphrastic Poem
First, great use of rhyme without it becoming too sing-songy. Good description of Indiana Jones. There’s a great formality in the rhyme the consistent syllable count, and the four-line stanza that suggests the tradition of the movie’s arc: handsome, athletic man, on the search for treasure, “wins the girl and saves the land”. The end. In some ways the format defies the wild adventure those of us who have seen the movie remember. With its formal constraints, the poem suggests this tradition of storytelling goes comes back to these constraints, to poetry. Good work, Robyn. Next week’s assignment, the Erasure poem, has been posted. A page with instruction and links is provided and an assignment page to upload your Erasure by next Monday. Hope you are well.
