Sometimes Life Does That To You

My Mom: 911, what’s your emergency?

Old Man: My front door is unlocked.

My Mom: Sir, why is your door unlocked, did someone break in?

Old Man: Go ahead and send someone out. I’m going to kill myself.

My Mom: Sir, why are you going to kill yourself?

Old Man: Well, I’m just tired of living.

My Mom: Sir, do you have any weapons?

BOOM

True story. He was 81. His wife had died two months earlier.

Police: Ma’am, this is the ____ County Police

Woman: (interrupting)I already know what you want, it’s about my dad, right?

Police: Yes, ma’am

Woman: (interrupting again) I can’t believe he’s so mad that he got the police involved. We all told him that he just needs to get over it. I can’t believe that the police are calling. What did he do now? Do I need to come down to the jail and get him?

Police: No, ma’am. We need you to come down to the hospital.

Woman: (loud sigh) Fine. I’ll come all the way out to the hospital. I can’t believe he’s dragging me all the way out there…

More true story. The old man’s family had been over the night before and they had a huge fight. All his family had stormed out the house.

Sometimes life just does that to you. But that doesn’t make it right. That makes it sad.
