Friday Night Lights (N2)

This one will need to be quick-

I have to leave in about 45 minutes to sell tickets at the high school football game. It’s the penultimate game of the season and the last home game. We are expecting a huge crowd as it is also Senior night.

Anyone who has been out of high school for awhile probably doesn’t know what all that means. Just pray that I don’t forget my seven times table. (Tickets are $7 each. Yes, SEVEN!)

The game tonight is against the high school that I graduated from. I have already been warned that I need to cheer for the Falcons, not my old school. Truthfully, the football team at my old school isn’t that good, never has been, so it won’t be too hard to take sides.

In other school news, has anyone else in the south east noticed all the MRSA cases that have been popping up? MRSA is an antibiotic-resistant staph infection. Kids in several school in the state have been diagnosed with it and it’s been all over the news here.

Today, we got word that two kids in MY school have been diagnosed with it. Just enough to get the kids all riled up. As I was passing out the letters that we sent home for the parents I went ahead and said “let the fearmongering begin!” It was okay though because none of my sophomores knew what fearmongering was.

And to end this beautiful Friday afternoon, I had to write up a kid for threatening to “fucking kill” another one of my students if he ever touched him again. This student, who I will refer to as O, had been bothering one of my special ed students by sticking his hands down his own pants and then rubbing his hands on the sped kid. Another student, in defense of the sped kid, tripped O. This is when O threatened him.

O already has a discipline file and his basketball coach will be none too happy to see the referral slip. (There is no help from the parents, I’ve already met with them regarding O’s behavior in class.)

Enough school talk. I will leave you with another cat macro. Enjoy.

I remember senior night in the last home game! Did they get t-shirts made up?

I think tickets were $3 when I was in school. Does that mean I’m old? =)
