C Is For…
Taken from Pagemaster.
Leave me a note. I give you a letter of the alphabet. You think of ten songs that start with that letter that you like/own/are on your harddrive and talk about it. Then you go!
And she gave me the letter C. If you want me to give you a letter, just leave a note asking me to do so.
1. “Canned Heat” by Jamiroquai. You all know it as the song from Napoleon Dynamite. I knew it first as the song from Center Stage. I am ony mildly embarrassed to admit that I not only have seen that movie, I enjoy it. Besides, this is just a fun song.
2. “Catalyst” by Anna Nalick. This used to be one of my least favorite songs on her album and I used to skip over it. Then, one day, I let the whole album play through and I realized how beautiful some of the lyrics are. Now it’s one of the songs that I skip to, instead of skip over.
3. “Chasing Cars” by Snow Patrol. Concert on Wednesday!!!! I just love Gary Lightbody. His voice is amazing and I love the lyrics as well. I’m so glad that the new CD is as good as the second one.
4. “Ciega, Sordomuda” by Shakira. I still maintain that Shakira is a thousand times better on her strictly spanish albums than anything she has done since crossing over. This is the first track on Dónde Están Los Ladrones? The translation is “Blind, Deaf and Dumb.” I love how I know all the words and can belt out all the spanish lyrics in the car and not be able to know exactly what I am singing. I get the gist of it, but not every word.
5. “Cloud” by Fischerspooner. Despite the fact that it’s electronica and I don’t like electronica, this is wonderful driving music. It makes me happy when I listen to it.
6. “Crutch” by Matchbox Twenty. Sadly, the “C” songs by my favorite band aren’t my favorite songs. I like this song, but there are so many others on this CD that I like more. That doesn’t stop me from singing it at the top of my lungs every time I hear it.
7. “C-C-C-Cinnamon Lips” by Ok Go. Love the treadmill video? Their first album is just as good, if not better. Haven’t seen the treadmill video? Where have you been? Click here!
8. “Company Calls Epilogue” by Death Cab for Cutie. I was going to put “Crooked Teeth” up as my Death Cab pick, but everyone knows the Death Cab songs from Transatlantacism and Plans but not quite as many people are familiar with the earlier stuff. Well, trust me, it’s just as good. So I will pay homage to We Have The Facts And We’re Voting, Yes. Download it, listen, enjoy.
9. “Come Out Clean” by Jump, Little Children. This song is just fun. It’s upbeat and honestly, it’s just fun to sing it at the top of your lungs in the car. Just writing that sentence makes me want to go on a drive and belt out that song. Next time I go somewhere, I think that’s just what I will do.
10. “Cyclops Rock” by They Might Be Giants. I am pretty sure that everyone has some part of them that loves They Might Be Giants. They were my first favorite band, before I had ever even heard of Matchbox Twenty. This song is from one of the later albums, but it’s fun, like all TMBG songs. The brilliance is in how serious they are and aren’t at the same time.
yay! now I have ideas for some songs to check out. sweet!
