Tao Te Ching #13 (Wu translation)

Welcome disgrace as a pleasant surprise.

Prize calamities as your own body.

Why should we “welcome disgrace as a pleasant surprise”?

Because a lowly state is a boon:

Getting it is a pleasant surprise,

And so is losing it!

That is why we should “welcome disgrace as a pleasant surprise.”

Why should we “prize calamities as our own body”?

Because our body is the very source of our calamities.

If we have no body, what calamities can we have?

Hence, only he who is willing to give his body for the sake of the world is fit to be entrusted with the world.

Only he who can do it with love is worthy of being the steward of the world.

+++++++++

again life only gives great power to those who have no desire to use it.

I pledge now that my life belongs now to the desert.

This gives remarkable freedom of thought, for I no longer have to fear for my life, it is not in my care anymore. This releases me from fear.

Now I can without reservation ‘turn the other cheek’ to all assailants.

With love,

kit

Yet equally they should realize there are spiritual forces which are opposed to God. They should trust God, and fear all that are opposed to him. -Junayd, “Tawhid” …

And as a woman I can tell you the power of release from the fear. We can let fear stop us from all fun endevors and gain nothing or we can loose the fear and gain all in each moment. One is the living dead and the other is living the Way

have you heard of the ‘I Ching’, it gives advice similar to this but was used like an oracle?
