Darkness Falls

She has always been frightened of

the dark.

She can’t see,

Her imagination goes wild,

She doesn’t know what’s lurking in

the dark.

She stumbles,

Falls,

And doesn’t know where she’s landed.

She has to get away from it.

At night,

She stands by the water’s edge.

Darkness is lurking,

Her worst enemy.

She lets out her breath

And curls up into a wave.

Suddenly,

She is no longer frightened of the dark.

For it now surrounds her,

forever.
