Kushiel and love

I am re-reading one of my favorite series of books for the….fourth? time. Each time I am reminded as to why the Kushiel’s Dart series by Jaqueline Carey  is one of my favorites.

In addition to the romance, adventure, magic, political intrigue, and constant edge of your seat plot twists, I always feel like I am basking in the warm realization of the infinite incarnations of love. Because at its heart, love is the central theme. It reminds me to reach as deeply within myself as necessary to find love for everyone; no matter who they are or how trivial or basic the reason.

It is an emotion and reason too vast for me to begin to philosophize concisely or even verbally. All I can do is let it well up in me and spill out into the universe and hope that enough other people are doing likewise. There are some people who believe that when they feel such an upwelling of love, that they are feeling the love of their god. Perhaps they attribute it to a god because it is inconceivable notion that such an intense, immense emotion could be spilling purely from themselves. And in truth, if there is somewhat divine or spiritual in this world, I believe that would be at the center of it.

Regardless. If you are reading this, I am sending love your way.

I don’t often run into people who’ve even HEARD of the Kushiel series by Jacqueline Carey, let alone people who’ve read it and enjoy it. It’s good to find a kindred spirit out there in this great wide world.
