Choices

There are some choices we make that we are unable, or rather, unwilling to take back. A finality we must be willing to live with. When the road forks we must choose a path, or stand stagnant at the crossroads with no idea of which path will end in greater happiness. Perhaps one will end in disaster and the other in…the greatest measure of happiness possible. Perhaps both will end in some measure of happiness or disaster. But if we never choose, we will never know. Perhaps happiness is in following the chosen path whole heartedly, without falter.

It is a little early for cold feet. Has anyone ever defined that term precisely? Maybe there are multiple definitions. For me, I think before and just after every major decision, there will always come the panic of feeling the perceived possibilities dissipate.

We can never know what crossroads lie ahead. But if we constantly ask "what if," we will never be happy with choices we have made and pursued. And we can never know if those choices would have made us happy unless we follow them whole heartedly to the end of their time.

So. I forge ahead.
