written in German class

Today we received our Free Writing folders back for the third time in English. I had about 15-20 minutes after writing a “paper reflection,” so I looked through a few of my entries. I didn’t know whether to laugh, cry, or become enraged. Ultimately, though, I find myself extremely amusing. So funny.

I saw entries entitled such things as “So das passiert,” “a dance, or my German class in my basement,” “a cynical but true realization,” und so weiter. I read words that said “But really he never has screwed me over” and shouted back “He’s always screwed me over!” I’ve read things about the hypocrisy of my life and the world. About “crying in German” and of all of my stress. My free writing is, in a nutshell, a treasure. My Schatz. And it’s hysterically, beautifully, brutally honest and telling.
