my friend was raped (cont’d)

This doesn’t happen to people I know. You watch all these movies in health class about people getting raped, but you never actually think that someone is going to confide in you.

This is so unreal. It’s like, you know it’s out there, but it’s at a distance. I always knew there were people I know that have been raped, but I never thought of this happening to a friend.

My life seems so easy, so good in comparison to hers. I feel guilty but thankful in a way, I guess, and cannot even begin to believe what petty things I complain about and shed tears about.
