I’m sure there’s SOMETHING I was going to say
Don’t really have a clue. I’m just writing to write. Haven’t done that in awhile, have I? It’s so funny. I’m talking to Robyn and Phil, and all of a sudden Phil says, “um, i think i’m out of interesting stuff to say for the moment”. Isn’t that so true? I can completely relate to that. It’s like, yeah we’ve had a semi-conversation, but we’re totally drained. It’s one of those nothings that’s better than somethings to just rather sit here online staring at a static message box rather than be bombarded by pointless chatter. Although, I am a big fan of pointless chatter. (Gee, can ya tell?)
I had my saxophone audition today. It didn’t really go all that well. Luckily my dad let me use his Selmer, so at least I had the best equipment possible. I think I was just nervous. My fingers didn’t really move on the first 2 excercises. Also my tone wasn’t great, and it kept making this growling noise because I was nervous. I hate that more than anything I think, because it makes me sound like I can’t play my instrument. But the truth is I can! Ahh well. Luckily he let me get through all of the prepared sections/excercises. We moved on to sight reading, and once again he made me play through all (hmm, was it 5 or 6?) sight-reading excercises. Unfortunately, I came across a high E flat, freaked out, and fingered E flat on a clarinet. (you see, when I sight read I automatically go back to clarinet mode because that’s natural for me). But of course, that’s not a fingering on alto sax AT ALL. Mr. H just gave me a strange look and I went on. Hehe.
I guess it was a good sign that he let me play through them all, though. Even if my brain/fingers WEREN’t working right, this means I still may be in contention for wind ensemble. I figure Tif and Mike are automatically in, leaving about 3 spots in Wind Ensemble open. HOPEFULLY this gets me in… I’m just praying.
After last year being in it on clarinet it’s sort of a MAJOR MAJOR goal… kind of prove to everyone that I’m just as good on sax as clarinet. Who knows… plus my letter jacket says “Wind Ensemble” on the back of it… and it’d be nice not to be a hypocrite. And I didn’t put it on there cause I was confident I’d get in… I just put in on there because that’s technically WHY I lettered. Oh nevermind. You all don’t really care anyway.
Ok, so Doug is totally annoying me. Yesterday he just figured out that, yeah, that would be my mom who was your general music teacher in elementary school. He just keeps SAYING it now… get this. He says to me, well you never think of your TEACHER having kids… let alone the girl that sits next to you in your science class. Riiight. Grr. Lol! I think it just upset him that he was flirting with a former teacher’s daughter. Cause he still won’t give it up. Why does everyone always find the need to tell me stories about my mother’s teaching? I don’t really give a darn… everyone always tells the same ones anyway, hehe. Ahh well.
*sigh* Off to be swept away in the hall current…
