exhaustion

Well, where shall I begin? It appears I last wrote Tuesday evening, so perhaps I should begin with what happened from there? Wednesday morning Mom and I headed down to where my grandpa’s house is, and proceeded to attack the basement. Which was all wet with mildew and Lord knows what else. EWWW. Anyway, we worked all day until about midnight, moving wet things, cleaning, dusting, sorting through piles and piles of junk. And then closets. And slides, and pots and pans and boxes and paintings and video tapes. I think you get the idea. Pretty much clean ’til you drop. So we dropped.

The next day I started going through old piano music, and eventually Chris arrived, which made me exceedingly happy. Then the day consisted of hauling heavy stuff from the basement to the garage with Chris, and watching my mom throw a bunch of crap away. It was actually rather fun… ;D Anyway, we almost completely filled his garage with garbage bags, wood, gross old carpet, more wood, tools, everything you could possibly imagine. Thank God Chris was there to help… I couldn’t have done it by myself. We got showered and cleaned up, then Mom took Chris, myself, and Grandma out to Olive Garden… mmm… pigged out… wasn’t going to tell you, but I think I earned it. Chris left Friday morning, Mom and I packed the car, and by 4:30 were back home.

Yesterday I got up bright and early to go play with Carrie, Irina, and Remo at Put in Bay. I was a little saddened at the lack of sleeping in, but it was well worth it. We put the bikes on top of the van, picked up Irina and Remo, and drove to Port Clinton, where we took the Jet Express. Once on the island, we did a quick bike jaunt down to the lighthouse, then came back to the center of town for lunch. We rode around the island some more (most enjoyable), and ended up at the state park where we sat around, talked, played on the swings, and tossed a frisbee around for a couple of hours. At that point Remo decided we needed ice cream (to which I heartily agreed), so we rode back into town, ate some magnificent ice cream (peanut butter ice cream with fudge swirls and miniture buckeyes) before dinner, then got some dinner and headed home.

Let me just say how exhausted I am. But it was tons of fun… it really was. I like how the mini-vacations Carrie and I take are centered around lakes. 😉

Last night I went to bed with the intention of not getting up until 11… I even set my alarm. However, at about 10am, the people who are going to be painting our house began to power wash it. Have you ever awakened to the siding of the walls of your room being power washed? It’s really very loud and rather disgruntling, if that’s a word. But that’s ok, I got up… maybe I’ll sleep in tomorrow? (The only day I can try, it seems, although they will be starting the actual painting tomorrow. I get the impression that might not be quite so loud, though.)

I may go try to read outside now… it’s so lovely. Tschuess!
