a mixture of explanation and rant

In case my lovely little summary (or rather lengthy summary) of my day didn’t TRULY hit you with its full impact of laziness, I’m going to actually write it OUT for you. It might also help you understand the mod system in my school… or just confuse you. Either way:

1-2-3… Honors Physics

4… FREE (ahh yes, 4th mod chatting and bagel time)

5-6… AP English

7-8… AP Calculus

9… FREE (a quick bite of lunch with my band people)

10-11-12… Marching Band

13-14… FREE (in the nice air-conditioned computer lab to be on the band web team)

15-16… AP German (German 4)

At first glance you’re thinking one of two things. AP??? HONORS?? Or 4 FREE MODS? So basically, it’s packed with really hard classes but cusioned with tons of free time. The only two classes I have consecutively are English and Calc… not too bad. 😀 And the best part of this schedule is the fact that I have ceased to carry a bookbag around school. Normally I do, but I have time to go back to my locker between every single class… so what’s the point? Another highly great thing about this year is the fact that as of yet, this grrl has no homework yet! Weighted courses? What?

Oh, and I should clarify what, exactly, a mod is. A mod is basically half of a period, if that’s what you’re used to. However, because of classes like chemistry and physics which need more time for labs, my school splits the period in two. This allows several classes to take up 3 mods, with one mod free. It also allows them to split the sophomores so they have one mod for lunch and one mod for study hall. At any rate, one mod is 24 minutes, two is 48, and there are 4 minutes between every 2 mods. A 3 mod class is something like 76 minutes, but the teachers normally let you have a break during the mod change. (For example, I have physics 1-2-3, but we get a 4 minute break at the change of mods 2 and 3.) At my school you have the same schedule every single day… it’s not block scheduling, as it appears Sean’s school has. So actually, dear Sean, YOUR school is the weird one. Block scheduling is somewhat new (and crappy, I might add, and statistics would show… especially for the arts), whereas having a consistent schedule is at this point still more popular.

On an entirely different, and somewhat aggrivating, note…

My mother has taken it upon herself to yell at me for several reasons. 1, I have not organized nor started my college applications yet. Why? Because I FREAKING don’t know where I want to apply yet! Plus I procrastinate, and just would rather be like… hey let me in… and they’d reply, Ok! And we’d all be happy. 2, because I have not been searching through FastWeb and applying for all those crazy scholarships that they keep sending me emails about. Why haven’t I done that? That was my summer job! *shudders at the thought* Yeah, she keeps saying that… “I wanted you to work on those this summer… that was your summer job!” You know what? Screw that. It’s not like we don’t have enough money to send me to college. People that actually need the money should be the ones to get it. Goodness.

I seldom do anything but complain. I suppose it’s not really healthy, but then again, neither is life. If people weren’t so darned frustrating or stupid or hypocritical, well life would be boring for one, but there’d also be no reason to rant so much. Alas, I feel it is indeed my duty to whine and complain about everything unjust in the world. Perhaps they’ll change. Either that or it’ll just make me feel better. *yeah selfishness*

I think I’m going to try to do something descriptive in this next entry here. I feel the need to write… to express. In fact, I’m not quite sure why I don’t more often. Perhaps its this feeling of “what if I can’t do it justly?” that always floods my entire being when I approach it. I just want it to feel so beautiful… and I feel so… unarmed to do it justice.

With that I’ll start thinking and be

~swept away by my diary~

Ok I know what Honors and AP are, but what’s with the 1-16 wierdness? And what are mods?? Our school has periods, 3 every other day day, 1 half period every day and 1 half period for lunch. I don’t know what the heck is wrong with your school. And we never get more than 5 minutes off at a time, except a 12 minute break half-way. Bah.
