burying a volkswagon van

  1. all my goodbyes have always been sudden and short, i’m sorry;
  2. and, i waited till the last minute to exhale,
  3. i smoked after i read your phrase, then i got so angry,
  4. all this bile and water washing the walls, it was ugly
  5. i pinned my hair up with a rose, i put my funeral dress on,
  6. fast becoming drugs, money and sex, our life’s hatred with one big laughing betrayal
  7. and now god lets me know, all this time he’s been playing a joke on me
  8. it left ash in our mouths, and vapor in our bellies.
  9. if it counts i’ll remember you fondly, hugging the snap of my camera frame.
  10. what did we expect, in the end there is only words and broken bones.
  11. living in the bus stations, to decide we’ll take the train.
