communication breakdown, it’s always the same

I’ve got that Led Zepp song in my head now… it’s only popped in after I talked to my idiot boss.

I swear, it’s like pulling teeth if you try to talk to her in a normal way. Everything that comes out of my mouth is wrong and doesn’t make sense. Only the thing is, is that I’m talking like normal people do, she’s the problem.

Today is career planning day. I have to meet with her at 1 to talk about my career goals. This is going to last three hours. She called me to tell me that she hadn’t received my paperwork beforehand. When I told her I faxed it, she said she never received it. In the body of her emails, her fax number is clearly listed. This is the one that I used, and the area code was not the Austin area code, so I figured that she had one of those subscriptions to a company that whatever faxed was then sent in jpg or pdf format. I faxed 15 pages to her lastnight to this number, and then she tells me today that that was the Kansas City office fax. Well then why the hell do you have it listed as your personal fax number in your emails? I know you have a fucking fax machine at your house….

Then she got our meeting time incorrect. She told me that 1 was still the time to meet. I told her I never received that info, and she said she texted/emailed it to me. Nope. It doesn’t have to be this hard! Why is the communication between her and I such a struggle? I don’t even talk much at all, but still whatever I say is either misinterpreted or misunderstood.

Anyway, I got back all of my binder yearbook money. ALLLLLLLL $560 of it. I also got back $118, and then another $260 because someone had charged a flight from Kansas City to Texas on my expense account. WTF? But, it’s all squared away.

Time to be more upfront and on top of my shit, right?

So here’s my response to a page in the career packet that I received…

Question: What are 3-5 ways that I can support you this year?

My answer: More organized activities, call me back quicker, praise me for small things that I do correctly, and talk to me about non-work related things when we ride together.

— she will probably have a field day with these answers, but hey, she asked me, right?
