Rye+Ginger Ale=Yum

So, I should say straight away that I do not support drinking alone, but tonight I just feel like having ONE, and am haha. I am having a rye and giner. I had heard it was really good, but had never tried it until now. It is actually quite good.

And on to more important news.

It looks like I will be working more 10 hour days this week. The money is good, I guess, but the hours suck.  I just with I had more down time and time to go to the movies or out to dinner or something once in a while. Oh well. I guess it’s a way of saving money. I really shouldn’t complain as much as I do- I think I will try to stop.

Krys and I went to Nuit Blanche this weekend in Toronto. Her cousin was having a housewarming party as well, so it was a good night. I worked Satruday morning, meaning up at 5 am, and then worked until 12- had a 1 hour nap, and then was up until 7 am, Sunday. That was fun. It actually was. I have not pulled an all nighter since I was probably in High School- I came close in university, but the latest I go to was about 330 am haha- go me!!

Nuit Blanche is an all night art show that takes place around Toronto, in the downtown, mainly outside. It started in Paris years ago, and this is Toronto’s 4th show. It was interesting. It’s all very abstract art, and VERY modern haha. There was one that was a bride jumping on a thing that was made to look like a wedding cake- and it was about divorce haha. There was one that was a parade that you could not see, but hear. That was really interesting. We also saw a GIANT silver rabbit balloon that you were suppose to look up at it’s underside and you are suppose to see ”a wonderland of your own making.” There were alot of weird ones.

A really neat place was going to the Financial District- all of the exhibits were about the recent market crash and how vulnerable our money is. There was a carnival ride that Spun you in vertical circles, and it was suppose to replicate the recent market trends haha. In the lobby of the one bank, there was a vodke puddle, called Vodka Pool- not lieing. It was a ginat pool of vodka, which you were suppose to stare at and ”ponder the volatile and symbolic qualities of 80-proof vodka.” Basically, it shows how money can just evaporate and disappear. That was really neat: we threw a penny into it, like a wish pond haha.

Another one of my favorites was called 10 Scents. It was 10 porta-potties with 10 different scents based on Alice in Wonderland. 2 were broken when we got there, and the other 8 were alright. Some were flowers, lavender, lilac, and some other scents. It was cool indeed- maybe because I have an affection for toilets, who knows haha

There were alot of really neat things to see, and I do recomment it to everyone to go and see it. Definitely was alot of fun. I don’t know if I would go again next year, but probably again in the future. However, I don’t think I could do the all night thing again. I would probably die haha.

On a different, yet related, note. One of Krys, cousin’s friend lived in New Zealand for a year after graduating from Teacher’s College. Apparently there aren’t too many ppl in NZ that want to be teachers, so that country will take anyone willing haha. Also, apparently Canadian teachers are VERY highly respected around the world and so that’s a plus for us! YAY! I mention this because Krys wants to go to New Zealand and I want to start teaching asap- so if it works out, I would move to NZ for a year to start teaching and gaining some experience and then she could go to NZ- win win!! haha I think it would be cool. Maybe after that I could transfer to another country, or come back to Canada. We will see.

We aren’t sure what we want to do come January. Krys is done school and I, obviously, am already done. However, she kind of wants to be around in Ontario for her graduation so that will probably keep us in Ontario- and then I am hopefully starting Teacher’s College in the fall, so we can’t go anywhere. We just aren’t sure where to go. We could move to a city where I have applied to school but then if I don’t get into that school, then we are stuck there with a lease- yuck haha. So we shall see. I guess the world is our oyster, if only we had the money haha
