3ish Weeks!

Well is seems like my time in Halifax is wrapping up- and rather quickly! I put my notice in at work on Saturday, so i gave 3 weeks notice. My last day will be August 1. It’s a mixed feeling. I am happy to be moving again and seeing something new, and getting my education done and over with, but at the same time, I really do love it in Halifax. I find it has a good mix of urban and rural life, in an interesting mix. There are the amenities of a city, yet walking through Point Pleasant Park, along the harbour front, or any of the parks and such in the city make you feel like you are alone and it’s very peaceful. It’s also nice that a quick 10 minute drive out of the city and you are in wilderness. It really is an amazing place to live.

Maybe I shall end up here some day in the future.

I woke up this morning with a yearning to just call my Nan and chat with her, like we used to. I have not felt this way in a long while, so it was kind of a surprise. But I do wish I could write her letter, call her, or even visit her. It’s still sad to think that she is gone- and it’s been 4 years!

Work itself is going well. We are understaffed because people keep quitting for various reasons so we have had to work a little harder to keep things going, but we are doing fine with it all. Now that I am leaving and another person is leaving in late August, it’s gonna be a good times for Pete’s! Hopefully they can find replacements soon. With the students coming back in August/September, I’m sure they will be able to hire new people fairly easily- it’ll just be a month of hell for them!

Not too much has really been happening in the last month or so. A mutual friend came to visit us from Ontario, so that was nice. We showed her the sights of Halifax and area. I think she enjoyed herself.

I have a friend coming out at the end of the month for a few days, which should be a good time. I will still have to work, so I am hoping that she can amuse herself while I am at work. It’s not hard to in Halifax- but she just lacks the motivation at times to do things herself. I’m gonna have to giver her a list of things she should do while I am at work haha.

Krys and I are planning our return home trip to Ontario. We plan on seeing Cape Breton Island- mainly the park, but also Louisbourg National Historic Site. I have dreamed of going there since I was in grade 7, haha. We are also planning on stopping in New Brunswick to see the Hopewell Rocks, the NB Leg in Fredericton, and then I think probably Quebec City.

And then at the end of August, Justin and his gf, from MB, are coming to visit me in Ontario! Whoot!! I’m not sure what we are going to be doing…probably hanging out in Wasaga Beach and probably a day or overnight trip to TO. It should be a good time. I am really excited.

School plans are progressing. I just got my criminal record check done and have to send that in. After that, I should be good with everything- just have to find a place now! Shamoo and I have been looking and we found a place, but we want to see if we can possibly find something better…but hopefully we don’t shoot ourselves in the foot by not jumping on this place. We shall see.

Well, I am out. Time do do some laundry, eat, shower….the usual stuff!
