Staring Problem~
He didn’t go out and buy my Lauryn a brand new bike. He has an older daughter from a previous marriage that out grew her bike years ago. It looks brand new and has gears and hand brakes. She rides it to school every day and my Jack and I take daily bike rides.
Once a week we go to the only restaurant and it is full of old people that love us each time. Jack is a very engaging little man full of smiles and laughter. He makes my heart swell every day and we love our little restaurant. Today he held the attention of a table of eight senior citizens, all grandmas. We went over to them and I repeated my same story…he’s one and his name is Jack…he has a staring problem and yes he’s a good boy…completely worth the 35 years I had to wait for him…and Jack leaned out of my arms and wrapped his arms around one of their heads. She was in a baby head lock and he looked like he was going to give her a nuggie. All the grandma’s laughed except for the one in the head lock. She took him under his arms and sat him in her lap, he looked at her for a split second then planted a direct kiss right on her mouth. The other grandma’s began to swoon and the kissed grandma will always remember my Jack. She looked at him so tenderly, Jack was like the singer at a concert that brought her on stage. I love people who love my kids.
When Lauryn got home (by riding her new bike) she was telling me how she likes the gears now and the hand brakes. I had a memory come back to me about me riding my own bike to school and so I told her. One time I got up early and got everything perfectly ready for school, it must have been an important day. I had to be there at nine and at 8:15 I was out of things to do and I was by myself. I sat in a chair and decided to just watch the clock. I seemed to sit there forever watching the clock and the clock said 9:01. I sat there staring at the clock until I was late for school, I pedaled so fast…I woke up early just to be late to an important day at school. My Lauryn of course asked why and for some questions there just aren’t any answers.
I got out of town last week and was able to email myself some pictures with my phone. You still don’t get to see the house but you’ll see my Jack standing and Lauryn with her old school teacher, they love each other 🙂 I’ll edit this entry tomorrow with these pictures.
Oh Jack is so sweet! I’m sure those ladies were completely captivated. What a great story. Glad you wrote it down so you will always remember. Hey you bailed on me yesterday.
