Where You Been?

Okay, so I realize that I am not the most diligent at keeping up with this thing.  However, I refuse to say goodbye to Open Diary.  I do enjoy writing once in a while and, though I know there are only about two people who read me, I still like to let y’all know what’s up with me.  So, what’s up with me:

I had my thesis presentation last week.  I was eerily calm.  I was actually nervous at how nervous I ended up not being.  I mean, I wasn’t anywhere near as nervous with this as I’d been about a year before when I met you-know-who’s parents…but, shhh.  He doesn’t know about that…he thinks I was totally cool the whole time.  Don’t give away my secrets!  I digress.  Anyway, I talked to 22 parents and teachers about how television affects our children and what we can do about it.  There is only one answer, and it’s the one that the parents who came probably didn’t need to hear:  BE INVOLVED WITH YOUR KIDS.  Either way, my advisor and the head of the department both loved it and said I did a splendid job.  This was confirmed the next afternoon when I went into the Education Administration Office and all the secretaries told me that the department head came in that morning and bragged and bragged and bragged on me.  (No, seriously.  They said "bragged" three times.)  Anyway, I’m glad it’s over.  I just have to fix all the grammatical crap in my literature reviews and then hand that in in a notebook and I’ll be finished with that.

I haven’t been swimming since last Thursday.  This is sending me into a deep spiral of workout depression.  My sleeping habits have been severely screwed with – i.e., I couldn’t fall asleep last night until 5:00 a.m. and I slept until noon today…this makes the third day in a row that something like this has happened.  I wanted to go workout, but I felt so lethargic and "a general feeling of malaise," and then I realized why.  I’m a woman.  That explained the headaches and the sensitivity and the backaches.  Bleh.  I swear…swear you will be able to find me in the pool at the gym swimming laps tomorrow.

I realize that I haven’t posted a recipe in forever.  And for that, I am sorry.  I have a few.  A few.  I’ve become lazy and complacent in my old age.  Not really.  I’ve just been playing catch up with everything I put off until my presentation was finished last week.

Goal Number One:  Get resumé finished and prepared to send to California – first of next week.  I mean, a job’s the important thing, right?

RYN: I’m gonna slap it on her right before she walks down the aisle, and my mother will already be sitting down, SO SHE CAN BITE ME!!

found you in Jeanine’s diary— you babysit TEENAGERS? why, may i ask do teenagers need a babysitter? and you’re only 25… that just sounds odd.

ryn: OH, ok, i thought it was like babysitting for the night, or something, but i can understand if its for a long time like over a week… if they can’t be trusted. my mom used to go on business trips when me and my sister were 16 and our brother was 17, and she’d leave us, but we were good kids.
