Like a Broken Record
"The extent to which you have the right to complain is directly related to the extent to which you are willing to do something about the problem."
~And that’s all I’m going to say about that.
I do realize that we are happening upon the third day of September. I also realize that I have had nothing but time on my hands since Wednesday, as it was the last day of my job. What I failed to realize is that I would have a Best Friend Birthday Dinner and a Family Reunion all in one weekend. That is why you have not seen the realization of a new recipe. However, never fear! The recipe shall arrive either tomorrow or Sunday. And, for your patience, you’ll receive a lot more than just a recipe. WHOO!
And no, I’m not avoiding the issue at hand. I’ve done what I could. I do feel for the people who are going through this horrible ordeal. I am not meaning to trivialize the situation, but it’s like many entertainers said after 9/11, that they felt like it was an honor to get back and do what they did to give people a moment’s worth of relief from what was going on. And while I am, by no means, finding myself the center of relief attention for anything going on, I also realize that we can’t just sit around and cry. We do what we can, we pull ourselves up and we go on and try to make life as normal as possible for ourselves and for any of those we may find in our care.
If you can do anything to help, please do. And chances are, if you’re reading this, there’s a pretty big chance you can do something to help. Check around in your community to find what things are needed or what ways you can assist…even if it’s just helping to load trucks/vans/cars, etc. with supplies to be taken to the victims. At the smallest level, you can pray. Whether you believe or not, and especially if you do, you can pray for these people and those who are making decisions about what’s to be done (and I don’t just mean the President).
And please, the last thing I would like to have on my diary is a bunch of notes saying why there are problems and whose fault it is and what is or is not going on. If you feel the strong urge to do so, please go back and read the very first line of this entry and then use your frustration to go do something to help the victims.
Thank you. Much love to all of you.
Amen.

i have to say that i’m a little dumbfounded by the people on OD who have said they can’t do ANYTHING to help even though the majority are probably online via high speed internet, own a computer and are paying for a subscription here.
