Antidisestablishmentarianism

I picked the title because I wanted to.  That’s all you need to know.

This won’t be long because I’m tired as a mofo and I have a movie coming on very soon and someone that would be disappointed if I didn’t pay attention to it.  I had forgotten what I wanted to put in my entry the other night.

MoZella

Go check her out.  And if you’re in the Los Angeles area, GO CHECK HER OUT.

ALSO!!!

Coffeehouse Fame

Go check it out.  And then buy the CD.  Why?  Because I told you to.  Get it while you can for only $10.95.  There are several reasons for this.  Before long, you won’t be able to get it that cheap.  Also, the fourth song, Don’t Cry for Me, is my song.  And when I say my song, I mean the song that was written for me, to me, and about me.  Oh yes, it’s my song.

I had a catering gig today.  All.  effing.  day.  I had to be out at the bed and breakfast (I work for two different caterers, by the way) at 9:30 a.m.  Or so I thought.  She called me at 9:05 or so, "Jess, where are you?  How much longer do you think you’ll be?"  "Um.  I’m in my bed.  I was about to get up and get ready.  Do you need me before 9:30?"  "OH!  I thought I told you 9:00."  "I’ll be right there."

We had two events, actually.  We had a bridal shower, for 40, at 11.  They ordered:  vegetable tray, fruit tray, mini quiche, nacho chips and rotel cheese dip, sausage and cheese balls, barbecued lil’ smokies, chicken salad croissants, cheesecake tarts, key lime pie tarts, and a chocolate sheet cake with buttercream icing.  Mother of heaven, it was a lot of food.  Even moreso because only 14 people ended up showing.  I ate good tonight.  Yes, I know that was grammatically wrong.  Get off my back about it.

The second was a wedding reception for about 30 people.  To my surprise, 30 people showed up.  I usually don’t expect more than two-thirds of the intended number, but they were all there.  They and all their children.  I think because we were so tired, we were extremely irritable.  They kept leaving the door to the outside open, letting in bugs and heat worse than an oven set on self-clean.  Their children ran all over the room, which was cute for about 25 seconds.  Then I wanted to plant their little butts in chairs in various corners.  (I’m going to rock as a teacher.)  Oh, lay off.  I’m only kidding…maybe.

They finally left about 8:00 p.m.  I didn’t know what to do with myself.  I was so excited that I’d soon get to sit down and possibly regain the feeling in my legs and feet.  Came home.  Showered.  Ate leftovers from the party today.  And I’m now finished with this entry.

Seacrest out.

So did you do a rush job of getting ready or was it a make-do-and-run sort of thing? In any case, go you! ryn: The New Jerusalem Bible. I’ve got 7 different translations that are my own and there are at least 2 others in the house. And I’m glad you’re glad I care for the kittens. And the coffee chats. 🙂

Also, I just realized you’re probably online now, and I’m online now, so I should probably sign onto AIM. I’m going to go change into jammies first, though. 🙂
