An Open Letter to Illegal Immigrants

*Disclaimer: If you are or are in the process of becoming a legal American citizen, this letter in no way applies to you. In addition, if you were brought here and are still under the age of consent to become a legal American citizen, this letter does not apply to you either. Also, while this may be applied to any certain ethnicity, it is directed at all immigrants who are in this country illegally, regardless of country of origin.*

To Whom It May Concern: .

Welcome to the United States of America. It’s my understanding that you would like to live here and become a part of this country. However, you do not want to become a complete part of this country. For whatever reasons you do not want to pay taxes, vote, or participate in any other civil rights in our country is fine with me. If you choose to never learn the primary language of the United States of America (English, by the way), and prefer to speak in your native tongue to anyone you come in contact with, please don’t “waste” your time, money or efforts on learning it. If you choose to not give money to the IRS, Social Security, the Armed Forces, Education or any other service provided by the American government, feel free to continue to do so.

However, do not expect me to have sympathy for you when you cannot understand what I am trying to tell you about a piece of clothing, food, or anything else you want information from me about. Do not expect me to have a translator waiting so that you and I can communicate about whatever you’d like to talk about. Do not expect me to take pity on you when you explain, with hand gestures, that you couldn’t read the road sign and that’s why you slammed into the back of my car at the road construction site; and that you are uninsured and do not want to be sued.

Do not come into this country, into my country, where I am a tax paying citizen, and expect my government (funded by my tax dollars) to give you the same benefits that I receive (as compensation for the taxes I pay). Honestly, I don’t want a Federal/National holiday honoring the fact that you are here without permission. Do not demand that the things provided for American citizens should be provided for you too. You are not an American citizen. You are a guest in this country.

Someone asked me why I am against illegal immigration because, “what if they can’t afford it?” I cannot afford a Ferrari, and you don’t see me walking into the Ferrari dealer in Beverly Hills demanding that they give me one just because I have a key ring and live in the area. I am not saying that you shouldn’t live in this country. What I am saying, however, is that you should not demand the rights and privileges of those who are a part of this citizenship when you are not a citizen.

And for the love of God, I am especially against the fact that you want to march around my city, that my tax dollars keep running, use my police force for protection (who are also paid by my tax dollars), and completely congest and block my city streets that are maintained by the tax dollars that you haven’t paid one red cent for. These are privileges due to American citizens. You are not an American citizen. You do not deserve these privileges. If you would like to become a legal American citizen, you deserve every last inch of pavement you cover with your protesting feet, but until then, either shut up or go home.

You’ve worn out your welcome here.
