Never Easy…
I found out why the itty bitty, you shouldn’t even feel it, kidney stone is making me so f’n sick…. I only have one, huge, horseshaped, kidney and the stone is lodged in the middle of it, tearing it to shreds and shutting it down. No wonder my urine test last week was mostly blood… I didn’t know that I only have one kidney, no one told me that until I went to the urologist. He explained to me that the single kidney thing isn’t ussually a problem, but sometimes you get stones in the lower portion and it’s difficult, if not impossible to pass them, even if they are tiny.
So I have to have another CT on Monday to see if I passed the stone, if not, they have to go up and take it out. Everyone flinches when I say that, but seriously, I’ll be out, they can do whatever to me, as long as I’m out, I’m cool with it.
The gastro proved himself to be a useless jerk this week too… he thinks the kidney stone caused the abdominal pain and diarrhea. The urologist, my family doctor and the other physcian I saw in the mean time, all agree that it’s unlikely to all be the kidney stone. First of all, my side has hurt for the last year and secondly, I didn’t start having kidney trouble until after a month of diarrhea and dehydration. Dehydration causes kidney problems. All 3 other doctors told me to follow up with the gastro for the abdominal pain and diarrhea. They assured me that he’d get me fixed up.
He told me Friday, that there’s nothing he can do for me, unless I want to try a presciption drug that sometimes kills people and I have to sign a waiver for… um, no thanks… He’s refering me to a pain management clinic for a numbing injection into my rib cage and reccomends taking immodium… I’m going to go ask for a new gastro.
It’s not that I think that the injection won’t help, it’s just that this gastro started out telling me I might have IBS, and should have a colonoscopy , then CT scan, to rule out other, more damaging illnesses before we start managing IBS, and now, his office doesn’t do anything to treat IBS.
I still have to have the allergy tests. I feel that those are going to be helpful.
ick – i hope you feel better
