Don’t you just hate it…

… when you get great ideas for gifts way too late to begin making them!

I’d love to make soaps inside knitted covers.  It’s just too late to go out searching for the yarn and soaps for that now.

It also occured to me that I should have started way early and made a bunch of holiday pet toys to sell.  Friends from animal forums have been bugging me for fleece tugs and knitted balls and dolls and felt cat toys, but there’s just not time to make them and ship them for the holidays now.

It also occured to me that I could make some really cool little bags, but again, too late to go yarn shopping then get everything knitted.

I have about 50 little ornaments to paint, but now I can’t find the damn things.  I was going to do those this week… grrr.

AND I got stalled on the scarf I’m working on.  It’s only half done and the yarn just isn’t as fluffy as it should be…  I don’t know enough to know what I’m doing wrong either.  The girls at work (I knit at lunch) think I’m crazy.  They think it’s beautiful and just the kind of thing any grandmother would love.  So I haven’t trashed it and started over yet.  I also haven’t been able to work on it more then a minute or 2 here and there.  First I was feeling sick again, then I had a terribly stressful day at work (I almost quit) and felt worse after that.  Then a long long day at work, and now the house is trashed and  I need to clean.  I haven’t been able to knit at lunch either, it seems like I’ve been on the cell phone talking to family the whole time lately.  My sister calls me about every 12 hours right now, she’s going through a rough spot.  She’s also tempting me to start new projects which I have absolutely no time for.  I’m tempted to have her over to do some of the ornament painting, bird seed cake making for me.

Oh, I’m also making my own Christmas gift this year!  I’m making a fuax saltwater tank for the Glofish I’m getting.  I can’t find any premade reefs that I can stand that are less then $300.  So I’m buying a $50 rock at work and gluing coral replicas to it.  I have to get it all done before the fish get here though.  I’m seriously considering not even ordering my fishies until the new year, but dammit I want Glofish!  LOL

You could always check out second hand stores and find some wool sweaters then felt them to make the things you want to.I buy wool skirts and felt them then make doubled mitts with 2 different ones, like plain colour on one side and plaid or stripe on the other. Everyone loves getting them as they’re really warm and different than any they can buy.

You have my complete respect. I’m just mastering crocheting but my fingers are REFUSING to learn how to knit. I don’t know why. Wish you could help me. I don’t know ANYONE who knits. *sigh*
