Hmm…another day

So I was feeling so good about the compliments about the children’s message, and then today happened. I got a call asking me to meet with the minister and head of the staff/parish committee. When I got there, Bill (my husband) was there. I was immediately on alert. I figured if they asked Bill to be there, either someone had died, or I was going to be fired.

Neither happened, at least not exactly. Seems like some of the ungrateful youth weren’t 100 % pleased with how things were going, so I was asked to step down from that part of the job.  I was highly complimented on what I do with the children and asked if I would like to continue in that position. At half salary, of course. I do love being with the children, so I accepted that. I was also asked if I wished to continue with the youth until someone else could be found, but I declined. Not going to be a lame duck!

The very sad part of all this is that I was the only one who jumped in and volunteered when the previous youth leader left, and there was no one leading youth activities. And now we have started the process of registering for a youth mission trip this summer, and there’ s not much time to secure someone else in time. I don’t know if they’ll be able to go or not. What I do know is that I am hurt, disappointed, and I’m not giving them another minute of my time.
