The First Snow/First Winter of My Life

When Nana was dying, I was there while she was having a cranky, petulant day <because final renal failure isn’t any fucking fun> and when I told her I needed to leave soon, but I’d be back tomorrow she screwed up her face.

‘I’m told it was the height of me’

Mad <and probably not wanting to be left> she spitefully declared
.                                                                                                      ;Just like you.
.                                                                                                       You’ve always been this way, haven’t you.
.                                                                                                       Just doing whatever you please whenever you please.;

And I have worn this dressing-down as one of my highest accolades since.

‘The way home
This was always the way home
So  you can rip that map to shreds my dear’
