Just Make Us Be Brave/And Make Us Play Nice

‘And let us be together tonight’

I can’t believe the end of the world is what it took for us to combine finances after more than ten years and what it took to get me to finally pull the trigger and grow lettuce inside. I’ve started onions <so late> and the rest of the seed starting will follow this week. That will give me some peace.

‘Don’t let us get sick
Don’t let us get old’

Supply chains will collapse next, as the first wave of expendable employees die and none of us are willing to do their work for their pay and <complete lack of> protection. I mean, supply chains and the entire healthcare system. The U.S. has been critically short of doctors for a decade already. When frontline healthcare professionals become sick and begin dying, there is no second wave of them. They don’t exist and even doctors trained in other countries typically are trained in countries with functional, universal healthcare. They can get treatment at home, they have important jobs at home; there is no reason, no appeal, to coming here. This isn’t the 80s AIDs crisis. There are no shitholier countries than this one to pull qualified talent from. Everyone managed to make progress in the last 40 years except us.

‘Don’t let us get stupid, all right?’

It’s ironic that I’ve spent years trying not to be an accelerationist <the necessary death toll and suffering is unethically high and the position amoral as a result, despite being appealing on face> and now the only options left are Cyperpunk Nightmare or Throw A Molotov on There and Seize the Means. Either way people are going to die, the question is how many and do we have any chance to win? <I don’t think we do. We are a country of absolute cowards>

‘I’m lucky to be here
With someone I like
Who maketh my spirit to shine’

Our country has always been slow to figure out to trust the scientists and the facts–and it’s no surprise we elected an ignorant shitgibbon who also maligns those things. Instead, we have oft relied on “prayer” and religious figures for guidance and law. Look where it got us. *shakes head*

The US should take a page from Canada’s book. :/ Seriously.
