Not complaining…but…

Yesterday I went to Gettysburg with my hubby and the inlaws. Since MIL and FIL had already been, hubby, grandma in law and I got a personal tour of the town. You pay this tour guide (it’s an official thing you sign up for at the front desk at the visitor center) to drive your car around the area and take you to all the stops and things. It was nice, and very informative, but not really my thing. My FIL payed for it, and so I was obliged to go. When he asked me how it was I was honest and said that it was very informative and nice, but not my thing. He looked disappointed…but I explained to him that 1. the Civil War isn’t really top of my list of things to study 2. I like to explore at my own pace. I’ve never been fond of guided tours 3. it was raining and I had to get out of the car to see some of the monuments.  But it was kinda interesting and I’m sure I learned things that I would never have known without the tour guide…Gettysburg is a cool little town. There are still bullet holes and cannon shells embedded in some of the buildings… It’s beautiful country out there.

We also went to Boyds Bear country ( http://www.boydsbearcountry.com/store/ ). It’s this HUGE barn structure that is four levels and filled with all sorts of Boyds Bears and related items. Keepsake you gotta hurry up and get preggars….there was absolutely ADORABLE baby stuff that I can’t justify buying until somebody I know gets preggars, and I don’t think Nicky is going to get preggars any time soon and I’m not either….so…ummm…hurry up already….LOL….(elephants…and humpty dumpty bears…and bears dressed like cows jumping over the moon bears…Nursery Rhyme bears!!!)

Yeah, no pressure or anything, sheesh. I wanna see Gettysburg, but not a guided tour. I wanna buy a map and do it my way. Besides, I’m really only interested in the haunted field. Monuments I like. But, not in the rain.
