The world, obligations and devotions
I read a diary today, and there was the comparison between youth and adulthood. Of the scorn of one’s peers for the devotions one takes in those things which matter. Which give him, and others like him life.
The world we live in is a entity bound and shackled by money, plain and simple. It’s devolution into loans, mortgages, credit cards, currency and other such nonsense is what seems to keep our world revolving. Going against the grain leaves us with woe. Kind of like touching a hot stove, leaves with the thought ” shit I better not do that again.”
We care, we love, we hope to build. In this procession of thoughts comes the idea of family, marriage and the upkeep of said valued entities. We love our families, and those around us that we call friend.
Yet to be with them. To enjoy or simply maintain them being at home each day we work. We must. Not because it is always something we enjoy but we enjoy the wife we go home to, the children who fuss over who gets to take off daddy’s boots first, and so on.
Yes, we digress and become, pardon the expression , “mechanical animals” . But our end goal is to reap continuity in life, a homeostasis, kind of like a social orgasm that keeps going, at least as long as we are conscious and not part of the dogmatic continuum of work.
Yet the most essential part of this equation of work and maintain is that we keep our foci clear. Home is the place to unwind, not worry over work and how high the pile is on our desk or some such similiar pain. We must recognize the joys which keep us alive and motivate us to work, that which is our family, friends, our own activities which to some may seem childish, yet perhaps the others regard them with jealousy. They can only reminisce back to the times where they were free of the
chains of adult duty, if they are in fact such a painful task. They crave it, and your own freedom is a tormenting mirror of what was for them.
Yes, work, play, family and friends…this is what life is made of.
