Land of the free, home of the brave

It is 7:56 a.m. there is silence, save for the running of the washing machine downstairs  for the load I just set in place.

Little Joe is still asleep, he turned over eliciting a few well placed sounds but when I checked on him there he was decked out in comfortable blankets and soaking up his sleep. He has been sleeping through the night for weeks now, save for a random day or two. Last night he woke at 3am and I took care of his diaper and bottle needs (9 oz of whole milk) and back to bed he went without even the slightest protest.

Today’s agenda is as follows:
– vacuum & dust the master bedroom & bath
– go to Costco to get whole D milk, and just that as we need nothing else…or so I believe.
– go to my parent’s for sunday dinner
– if we have time let little Joe enjoy the kiddie pool Nina picked up for him, it has sprinkler’s build in and it attaches to the hose so when it’s running it’s pretty nifty.

Other than this my wood pile is still not taken care of and it’s starting to really get on my nerves. I have been hesistating on starting since my brother was supposed to lend me his spare splitter which would be very helpful but he has had no time to drop it off so I think this week I am going to split it by hand and say to hell with waiting any longer. It will take me a bunch of weekends to get it done but at least I won’t have to rely on anyone but me if I choose this path.

Yesterday I hit the gym and did chest & back which was nice. I have been focusing on cardio & abdominals alot lately but I thought a change of pace would be good. Today I’ll just do some abdominal work at home and avoid the run outside since we’re supposed to have a heat wave.

Lowes for some household needs, and then back home to do some light gardening and just irrigate it. The garden is exploding, my tomato plants are closing in on five foot height and everything else is just well, good.

We went to our favorite sushi buffet which is usually very good and found that they weren’t serving water due to a contamination of the water and they didn’t have the a.c. going. On top of this little Joe was really acting up which didn’t help as he wanted to leap out of his highchair and swipe things from the table at every turn so he was very challenging.

Beyond this Nina and I had our bickering which seems par for the course lately. I really don’t like engaging her in this way but when she gets relentless in her questioning and I’m shut down so I don’t engage her she becomes more pissed off and continues. We both later apologized to one another but it still made for a shitty middle of our day.

Ok, that’s it for now.

Enjoy your freedom today and remember who earned it for us and that we should be grateful.

Many people forget this beyond the foray of barbeque cook outs, booze and fireworks.

I know I haven’t, and that’s all I have to say about that.
