Enter the Dragon (Roll)
This morning started relatively decently, H2 slept until 7:15 and being that Nina was home (swapped days) we had a nice gym day with she & I hitting the weights and little Joe doing his thing at the day care. For $1/hour I can’t go wrong.
I did chest & back with a rugged determination that bordered on reckless. I did speed sets of 5 reps at high weights hitting a series of exercises. My bench press is harboring at 205 lbs while incline dumbell presses were boastful at 70 lbs of steel held angrily in each hand. My mind had welded it’s focus on the fact my body was 33 years old. Not exactly a spring chicken and yet I was not old.
Not old.
Not crochety.
I will not be one of those people that let’s themselves die before their time. I have goals to set before the end of the week (sunday) and begin to reel myself into practice by monday evening. I can’t count the number of times I pumped myself up here with the mind fuck that I was going all out. How many times will this nonsense play out before I finally get sick of just not being who I really am beneath this bulky mass? How many looks in the mirror to finally get it through my head that I’m not exactly turning heads at the gym or anywhere else for that matter.
Anyhow, I digress. Afterwards I went home and got my work clothes on and went to the task of splitting wood, we happen to have ran out of the main pile and I needed to really get the four blocks of oak chopped. Yes, this was cut down around september so despite being split it had been sitting here a while. Our tenants also through out an old cedar table which was easily chopped down as it would have otherwise gone to the garbage and of course the landfill.
Tired and thoroughly spent after the chopping I showered up and we were off to Sushi Park in Commack. Fresh fish prepared on the spot. There were too many good things to speak of so I am just going to say if you happen to be in Commack and want a sushi buffet this is the place because at $15/per person you can’t go wrong.
Homeward bound with a content belly and we made some quick work of getting boxes and such into the attic while little Joe watched in wonder as to where oh where daddy was going?
The fire is going and Nina just took our son upstairs to put him down for the night. He’s been eating tremendously lately so we are expecting either a tooth or a growth spurt.
Ok, enough of me for now.
Be well.
Dunno, sound a little crotchety with that gym description. :p Great mindset though. Take care

that cedar burning will smell lovely..i’d say splitting wood is better than going to a gym and you have a reward of logs for your efforts as well lol
