Polar Vortex You’re History!

Dear Diary,

The deep freeze is finally over and I survived! YAY! It’s hard to believe that we’ll have 50 degree weather this weekend. How crazy is that? I’ll take it though. Though, with all the snow we received, I truly hope we don’t have to deal with flooding now. There have been a few house fires in the area and it just breaks my heart. These people were just trying to keep warm, and they lost everything. I’m glad no one was severely hurt, but it’s just awful. The community has been awesome though. People have been rallying together to raise money and to donate clothes, toys, and whatever else to these families. This weekend I’ll be going through some clothes as well. I have some clothes that will fit some of the women. There isn’t much else I can do for them, but at least they’ll have some clothes.

Today has been a pretty sad day for me. I have to say goodbye to one of my favorite coworkers because this was my last shift with her and my MWF people that I see. There were a ton of hugs, crying, and well wishes. I told one person that I was sad to say goodbye to him and he told me to cheer up because it’s a happy time for me. He’s right, but after more than 4 1/2 years, these people have become my second family. I’ve never been that great at saying goodbye. Who is, really?

I have a long day tomorrow. I cannot wait to have every weekend off from. This will be the last weekend I’ll ever have to work! I am super excited about that, you have no idea. I’ve never worked a job before where I had weekends off. I don’t think I’ll know what to do with myself, Diary! I know it’ll be like having a weekday off, but this time around it’ll be easier to make plans with friends and family. It seems like everyone I know has weekends off. It’ll be nice to join that crowd.

I’m beginning to get very restless and anxious about my new job. Last night I could not fall asleep because I kept thinking about it. I just have to keep reminding myself that this is what I went to school for, this is what I want, and I will totally be fine. I know it’ll be very overwhelming at first, but what job isn’t? It’ll take a bit to learn, but I’ll get the hang of it in no time. I learn quickly. It’s the newest challenge I’ve been striving for.

Okay, Diary. That’s it for now. I’ll talk to you again soon!

Your Friend,

That Girl

I survived the cold too. My phone says temp is 55 now. Temp here was -17 at the warmest, without the windchill, on the coldest day. But didn’t get any snow

@serenadeoliver I saw the lowest at -30! That was awful. I relished that 50 degree day we had. But now we are buried under ice and snow! I wish Spring would hurry up and get here.

@kaliko Good! It was nice having that 50 degree day, but now we are buried under snow and ice! I lost power for a little while yesterday, but I am so thankful it’s back on. I can’t wait until Spring gets here.
