Maya survived her first Friday the 13th, but…

I’m pretty sure the mouse didn’t. For the second time in three days my mighty four month old huntress caught a live mouse and played with it. Today she played with it for more than an hour before I got home and took the poor little beat up thing and threw it in the bushes for a peaceful death or a predator to get (we have several hawk and badgers in the neighborhood). I’m pretty sure it was close to death when I got to it and the heat outside may have finished it off. I just couldn’t make it go through any more of her torture. I picked it up by the tail (cruel I know but you should have seen how beat up it was) and the little minx of mine tried to bat it out of my hand. I told her my turn and put it in a box to take outside. Maya didn’t snuggle with me again until a little bit ago.

The good thing is she is earning her keep at about four months old. My Dad who wasn’t thrilled about a cat coming into the house is thrilled that she is hunting and his allergies don’t seem to be too bad with her around; then again I’ve been wiping her down daily with anti allergen wipes which seems to make a great difference for him. She’s getting used to the idea and even tolerating it daily. . She’s gotten really good about going in her crate too. I really love this little black field kitten even though I didn’t see myself getting a black cat.
