Well then.

First things first.

Mini-vacation ended up going as planned, pretty much without a hitch. A good time was had by all, and so forth. It really could have lasted another week. 2 weeks maybe, but the wallet and wife would have both rightfully complained, and so I enjoyed what I had and am extremely glad for it.

Like all good vacations, I was thrilled while it was happening, sad when it was over, and wished I could have held off on going back to work for another day or 3.

Still – I got home early enough that I was able to rewatch the weekend’s Avatar concert (which was amazing) once more before getting dressed for work and heading out the door.

Work itself? On the whole, pretty okay. Either the idiot quotient was low or I was just in a good enough mood that it didn’t get under my skin all that much. I still sort of wish we could get rid of our credit card readers and just go back to being a cash bar. The POS we got a year or so ago is nice in many respects (That’s Point of Sale, not the more logical meaning that I always think of), but its credit card processing takes so goddamned long it causes lines to build up even more than a frozen blended drink, and that’s saying something. Add to the fact that every other person wants to pay that way? Shoot me. It’s honestly good that we’re -not- more busy right now, ‘cuz you add a stupid large crowd and we’re forcibly held head-first underwater all night by the idiot payment system.

Anyway. There was actually a respectable number of folks in the casino last night, and so I was kept busy a good amount of the time. While we did have some folks who just didn’t comprehend the tipping thing, like one of our more impatient regulars. (In his defense, he’s usually at least in the OK bin in that respect, but clearly wasn’t having a good night, ‘cuz he was just a big impatient Stingy McNoTipFace last night. He only came to get a couple of beers from me because the cocktails weren’t keeping up with him and he has the patience of a gnat with a bad case of ADD.)

SO – a couple of folks like that, but for the most part, people were really quite generous for a Sunday night, and I came home with enough in my wallet that even with not working Friday or Saturday night, I shouild be able to get pretty close to what I conservatively budget for on the week so hey – go me I suppose.

We’ll see if the holiday today brings folks out any more this evennig, or if Monday will be its usual slow and lazy grind.
